When The Lion King hit theaters in 3-D, the Walt Disney company was not expecting it to be the cash cow that it’s turned into, as the re-release has made nearly $80 Million and isn’t done yet. There’s been a slow trickle of news from CinemaCon, with most of it teaser posters for films from later this year. The biggest bit so far is the official title for the Pixar sequel to Monsters Inc. That title: Monsters University. This also fits with previous information this might be a prequel. Though nothing has been confirmed, the likelihood of John Goodman and Billy Crystal reprising their roles is all but assured (who would say no to Pixar?)

Let the award season begin! The 13th annual Hollywood Film Festival and Hollywood awards have announced that Director Kathryn Bigelow will be honored with the “Hollywood Director Award”, Screenwriter Nora Ephron will be presented with the “Hollywood Screenwriter Award”, Disney/Pixar’s UP will get the “Hollywood Animation Award” and Scott Farrar, visual effects supervisor for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen will receive the “Hollywood Visual Effects Award” at the festivals Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony.

This isn’t really a surprise to me, but there are rumors circulating that Pixar is working on a sequel to their hit film, Monster’s Inc. According to /Film several big wig buyers were given the inside scoop on Disney’s future film plans at this year’s Licensing Fair that was held in Las Vegas. Even though these privileged individuals were sworn to secrecy, a few of them spilled the beans that Pete Docter the director of Up, is definitely working on Monster’s Inc. 2.
