Though you would think that Hollywood would be loading up on great movies for the end of the year (and it's been a darn good year), most of the wide releases this weekend are a little weak. Maybe not on paper, but now that we're here they don't stand a chance against The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

This week, Mike and Sully swing back into theaters for Monsters, Inc. 3D. Pixar has given the family film a makeover. It's mainly to generate extra cash during the holidays, but also to prepare us for what's coming. Next summer, the studio's releasing Monsters University, the prequel to the 2001 original.
