The Mission Impossible news just keeps on coming as a trio of actresses have auditioned to play Tom Cruise’s leading lady. According to Deadline, Paula Patton, Kristin Kreuk, and Lauren German have all tested for the part of a young female operative. Whoever lands the role will also act opposite Jeremy Renner who was cast earlier this week as Cruise’s sidekick.

Christopher Nolan made a Batman movie without Batman in the title (The Dark Knight) and it got a positive response, therefore Paramount is trying something similar with their spy series.

Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames have already been confirmed to bring Ethan and Luther back, and now the studio wants to add some new blood.
Here in the States people are still reeling over the casting of Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander in the American adaptation of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Noomi Rapace, who plays the character in the Swedish-language film has been receiving a lot of positive buzz for her performance, enough so that a possible Oscar nomination might be in her future. After the lack success for this summer’s Knight and Day, Tom Cruise’s career is still treading the thin red line. Surprise! Surprise! Paramount has decided to push their 2011 summer sequel Mission Impossible IV all the way back to winter. With the recent influx of blockbusters being stuffed into the same time period we smelled this move a mile away. The studio has officially announced that the film’s release date has been changed from May 27th to December 16, 2011.
