The 2011 version of Footloose is a remake intended for a new generation who have no interest in a thirty year old film starring that guy from X-Men and that guy from that sitcom about aliens with the kid who was awesome in Inception. With Craig Brewer‘s slick directing that new generation is in for a good ride – even if the central conceit was a bit dusty in 1984. Brewer finds the truth in overprotective parents enough to make this an entertaining, and faithful (almost too faithful) adaptation of the original.

The Cast of Footloose were never trying to reinvent the wheel, but they knew the challenge of adapting a well liked teen film for a new generation. For stars Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough, they came in as dancer who may not be known for their dramatic chops. For relative newcomers Ziah Colon and Miles Teller it was a chance to step into the mainstream. Whereas for Andie McDowell it was a chance to play a meaty mother role. This weekend, the much talked about drama Rabbit Hole will hit theaters and it features possibly one of the best performances of Nicole Kidman’s career. But to be fair, she’s surrounded by a group talented actors including up and comer Miles Teller. The young actor earned the coveted role of Jason, the teenager who accidentally kills the son of Kidman and Aaron Eckhart’s characters. We recently had a one on one interview with Teller and asked about the grueling auditioning process he went through to land the part.

A lot of people have been anxiously awaiting Craig Brewer’s big screen remake of the 1984 dance flick Footloose. There’s an entirely new cast led by up and comers Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, and Miles Teller. Teller, who also appears in the highly praised drama Rabbit Hole opposite Nicole Kidman this month, recently spoke to us about his role in Footloose. He’ll fill the shoes of the late Chris Penn who played Willard in the original and he told us a little about what we can expect from the movie, dance montages and all!
