Chris Rock has managed to dabble in a few remakes over the course of his career, with the most recent being Death at a Funeral, a rip-off of the British film of the same name. If he likes tackling off beat comedies that’s great but when he starts messing with Akira Kurosawa’s work we’ve got a serious problem. According to Black Voices, Rock will pen a screenplay for the upcoming remake of High and Low for Oscar winning director Mike Nichols. Let’s all let out a big, resounding what the f*ck?!

Mr. Mike Nichols is one of my favorite film directors. The man is beyond talented, and puts the class in his classic films. I’m happy to hear that he’s just signed on for another movie. According to Variety, Nichols will helm Deep Water, an eerie story about infidelity and murder. Yes, it sounds like an episode of Desperate Housewives, but believe me it’s not. Another novel that’s barely seen the light of day has already got a film adaptation in the works. According to Variety, Scott Rudin and Miramax Films have recently acquired the rights to The Believers. The novel was written by Zoe Heller and was just published this week. Rudin has worked on a ridiculous amount of films, but you may know him for 2007′s No Country for Old Men. He won the Best Picture Oscar along with The Coen Brothers for their production of the western .
