Tony Scott has been developing a big screen adaptation of the book Hells Angels for the past few years but it’s taken a back seat to some of his more recent projects like the upcoming action flick, Unstoppable. According to Deadline there’s been some movement on the Angels front that involves the casting of Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke and one of the stars from Transformers.
Not long ago we attended the press conference for Iron Man 2, which was basically Robert Downey Jr.‘s chance to show off a unique hybrid between himself and Tony Stark. Not only did he dominate the stage, the questions, and everyone elses answers, but at one point he literally “held” the press conference together – but more on that below. In attendance along with Downey was the director Jon Favreau, writer Justin Theroux, producer Kevin Peige and cast members Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Don Cheadle (sadly no Sam Rockwell who absolutely rocked the film).
A new overseas trailer has been released for Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming action flick, The Expendables and it’s hilarious! The film isn’t a comedy but the Japanese promo brings the funny. It’s a 30 second TV spot that features all the major actors in tough situations using their expert training in combat and weaponry to survive. There has been so much anticipation for this film since its trailer debuted (which we sweded) last summer at Comic-Con. The sequel is a solid follow up that comes through with everything you would anticipate from Iron Man, but don’t expect to walk out of the theater with the same “wow” feeling you had after the first film. We’re all for Mickey Rourke reviving his career but taking on a role as Genghis Khan is not the way to do it. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Oscar nominated actor stated that he would be starring in a film based on the Mongolian emperor that will be written and directed by John Milius. Were there no Asian actors available for this part or is Hollywood really that lazy?
Tony Scott, director of films like Top Gun, Days of Thunder, and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 remake (i.e.: he’s the guy that makes older brother Ridley Scott say, “Dude, what’s wrong with you?”), is setting his sights on his next film, a long-gestating passion project elegantly-titled Potzdamer Platz.
Last week Paramount released six photos from next month’s Iron Man 2 (can you believe it’s almost here?) that featured Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, his alter ego Tony Stark, and Mickey Rourke as the villain Whiplash. Today, the studio has unveiled four more images from the movie that include co-stars Don Cheadle and Sam Rockwell.
I guess Marvel is making up for their decision to leave Mickey Rourke out of the domestic poster for Iron Man 2 by releasing a few new stills from the movie. Three photos have debuted online and they feature Iron Man himself, director Jon Favreau (in character as Hogan), Rourke, and what looks like a cockatoo bird.
