Green Hornet is everywhere! Previously, we reported on the film’s release date being pushed back from July to December 17, 2010. It will go head to head with the highly anticipated Tron sequel, and several CGI Smurfs. With that type of competition, it’s no surprise that the film’s cast and crew have jump started their production. We’ve got a few behind the scenes photos of Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, and director Michel Gondry mugging for the camera.

The film has been cast (well almost all the way cast), a screenplay is locked down, and a director has been picked…it’s time for ACTION! As of today, Michel Gondry, Seth Rogen and a few new additions are on their way to bringing The Green Hornet to the big screen!

You’ve got a lot of interesting and creative talents with all different types of backgrounds working together on this film. If this film works, it could be one of the best superhero films made.

Gondry is known for creating some of the most thought provoking, interesting and visually beautiful films, while Seth Rogen has proved time and time again to be able to deliver great comedic screenplays and performances. With a wide range of producers involved, with a resumes as different as I Am Legend to Pineapple Express, we’re in for a real treat.

I could regurgitate the information, but I won’t tease you with that. Here’s what Sony just sent over to us about the film…

I should have known better than to get my hopes up. The Green Hornet adaptation has had fans on an up and down roller coaster this past year, with no signs of slowing down. As of late the film has been on a winning streak acquiring several talented actors for key roles, but out of the blue here’s another sign of darkness. According to /Film, Hornet has had its release date pushed back once again.

Picture 125 Does Green Hornet Have a New Kato?

Let me preface this article by saying this is a mere casting rumor that I’ve decided to entertain. The big screen adaptation of Green Hornet has been plagued with so many casting and directorial issues that I decided to report on what seems to be some positive news. According to IGN, Korean actor Kwon Sang-woo may be up for the role of Kato, the martial arts master and sidekick of the title character.

seth rogen green hornet Seth Rogen Speaks out About Green Hornet

In my opinion the entire development of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Green Hornet has been a disaster. The film’s release date has gotten the shuffle treatment several times, and one of its main stars have dropped out. So in the recent wake of Stephen Chow’s exit as Kato, people are wondering what the hell is going on over there. Over at First Showing, they’ve gotten several updates regarding the films status, including some choice words from it’s lead actor, Rogen.

Startup distributor Oscilloscope has picked up the rights to Michel Gondry‘s new project, The Thorn in the Heart a documentary which recently wrapped the Cannes Film Festival. Gondry seemed excited at the prospect of his new distributors…

“So I called up my best friend Etienne and told him, ‘Guess who’s distributing my documentary about my aunt?’ and he said, ‘who?’ and I said, ‘MCA from Beastie Boys’ and Etienne said, ‘The Beastie Boy bought your Aunt’s documentary?! Get the f*** out of here!’ and I said, ‘Yeah!!!’”

Although Gondry is attached to more mainstream films such as his much loved Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the upcoming superhero flick, The Green Hornet he also has a love for documentaries and has decided to turn to his own family for material.

What’s really going on with the big screen adaptation of The Green Hornet? Are we in or are we out? Months ago it seemed as if some progress had been made when director Michel Gondry was hired on as director to replace Stephen Chow. Chow decided against helming the pic due to the illusive “creative differences.” Gondry on the other hand seems excited about his vision for the film, and recently spoke to ComingSoon about his take on the cult character.
