Yesterday, the teaser trailer for Oliver Stone’s long awaited sequel Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps finally arrived and it unveiled a new Gordon Gekko. He’s fresh from prison and ready to take on the world that he once dominated, the only problem is things have changed, and not for the better. The first official poster has been released for the movie and it looks really familiar.

This year we’ll see the long gestating sequel to the Oliver Stone eighties flick, Wall Street emerge from the ashes. The new film is called Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and it stars Shia Labeouf as a young trader who bites off more than he can chew in the dog eat dog world of the stock market. Over at USA Today, they debuted some high quality photos from the film that feature the young actor trading in his t-shirt and jeans for a few custom suits and some hair gel.

Something tells me this is a rumor. I have a pit in my stomach and the source of the story being People doesn’t help the matter. But oh well, here’s the “news,” I reserve the right to take it back later…
Michael Douglas is set to play Liberace in the film biography directed by Steven Soderbergh (this much we had heard before), and Matt Damon has officially “accepted the challenge” of playing Scott Thorsen his longtime lover. Who ever saw that pair coming? They are going to have Douglas playing a campy musical performer dressed in glitter and Matt Damon as the assistant/boyfriend who “outed” the entertainer in 1982 over a palimony suit for $110 million.
According to People and backed by a French Newspaper at the Deauville Film Festival (with no link), Soberbergh is already rolling ahead with the new film before his latest one The Informant hits theater. They’ve even got Michael in playing dress up already…

Last week we brought you some behind the scenes photos of Shia Labeouf, Frank Langella, and director Oliver Stone on the set of Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps. As an obvious observation, Michael Douglas was nowhere in sight. The actor is set to reprise his Oscar winning role of Gordon Gekko in the film, which has been over 20 years in the making. We haven’t heard much from Douglas since his initial attachment to the sequel, but the actor has finally broken his silence and is filling us in on what his character’s been up to for the past two decades.

Sequels and remakes have been ridiculously hot these past few years, and they don’t seem to show any signs of stopping. According to THR, Oliver Stone’s gritty financial drama Wall Street must have another story to tell, because part two is on it’s way. Stone has officially signed on to direct a sequel to the 1987 film with studio 20th Century Fox. The plot to the film is being kept under wraps, and for the time being the project has been given the title of Wall Street 2.
