Whenever any real news comes out of the Batman camp it’s never courtesy of director Christopher Nolan. Instead, resident butler and Oscar winner Michael Caine always seems to be the bearer of good news. The latest tidbit he’s given up has to do with the production start of the third film, which is slated for a summer 2012 release. On a related note, Summit Entertainment’s Twilight Saga will also start shooting its final installment Breaking Dawn later this year.

The film stars Leonardo DiCaprio and once again reunites Michael Caine (The Dark Knight, The Prestige), Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight), and Ken Watanabe (Batman Begins) with Nolan. His only companion is his best friend Leonard who is killed by some pain in the ass kids. Michael Caine took a moment to step out of his butler uniform to star in the indie crime thriller, Harry Brown. The film was released in the U.K. on November 11th, and is in limited markets in the US. After recently viewing Brown, it seems like a throwback to the old school Death Wish movies, which centered on an angry man who packed a lot of heat. In this case, it’s Caine and he proves to be one old, dirty, bastard.

The speculation over the long developing sequel to The Dark Knight, has calmed down over the past couple of months. Mostly due to the fact that Christopher Nolan has been working on his latest film Inception, which is currently in post production.
