Now that Iron Man 3 is set to start production this summer, you can expect a bevy of casting news and (potentially) spoilers to start spilling forth from the Marvel offices. Just last week, we reported that Ben Kingsley was being cast as the film’s villain (rumored to be Mandarin), and now we can report that Lockout star Guy Pearce has been given a crucial role in the third Iron Man film.
Well, in case you were hoping to avoid any potential spoilers about who would survive the ending of the upcoming Avengers film, Marvel and Disney went ahead and spoiled that somewhat by announcing today that the sequel to 2011’s Captain America will be seeing the First Avenger return to the big screen on April 4, 2014.
Bringing the God of Thunder to the big screen was a challenging experience, and the film – which hits theaters May 6 – went through years of development. And though director Kenneth Branagh might seem an odd fit, the film’s power struggles between gods are not dissimilar from the struggles of Henry V – an adaptation that made Branagh’s directorial career. Paramount has released a new theatrical trailer for this summer’s Thor. The movie is based on the Marvel comic of the same named and stars Natalie Portman and Australian actor Chris Hemsworth as the title character. After a long and tedious wait, 20th Century Fox has released the trailer for their comic adaptation, X-Men: First Class. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn, who was previously hired to helm X-Men: The Last Stand but had to back out for personal reasons. The Black Panther is back! The Marvel superhero has had a film adaptation slide in and out of development for years and it looks like the studio is finally buckling down to make it. According to a report on THR, Marvel has hired a writer to pen a movie about the African King who moonlights as a superhero.
