Featuring Arnold Schwarzenegger announcing “I’m back!,” Jason Statham stabbing a groom at a wedding and declaring “I now pronounce you man and knife,” and Sylvester Stallone crashing an airplane into a train tunnel in the side of a mountain, the trailer for The Expendables 2 features some of the most ludicrous action clichés committed to celluloid since Commando bowed in 1985. For both Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson in The Hunger Games, they’re in a rare position for leading men: they’re actually playing the love interest roles. And so it was interesting to get the two actors in a room together to talk their roles as support. Neither really shared scenes in this movie, but both will eventually be fighting over Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen. But in person, the two were quite happy to chat about their roles. When a book becomes a phenomenon, its film adaptation is all but assured. And though The Hunger Games didn’t hit the ground running as a phenomenon, we’re now at a point where the books are everywhere, and the film is looking at opening to over a hundred million. Thank goodness then that Gary Ross‘s adaptation for the big screen is good – it’s one of the best blockbusters we’ve seen in quite some time. And it’s going to make Jennifer Lawrence into a movie star.

Back in January we told you about Twilight’s favorite wolf-boy Taylor Lautner and his non-vampire related deal to star in the John Moore film, Northern Lights. Now the film’s producers are scrambling to find his replacement and they think Australian native Liam Hemsworth might be it.

The Last Song is the latest installment in a long line of sappy romance films based on the works of Nicholas Sparks. Somehow she has the blond haired, blue eyed companionship of a local volleyball player to keep her distracted from her uncomfortable home situation. Out of all the girls in the world, the hottest guy on the beach decides to love the one with the Gothic makeup, nose ring, and the bad attitude. How poetic…

Liam Hemsworth might not be a big name now but he will be after the release of this month’s The Last Song. The actor plays the love interest of Miley Cyrus in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation, but he’s not all about playing a romantic lead. He was set to co-star in Sylvester Stallone’s testosterone driven action flick The Expendables, alongside some of the roughest, toughest men in the industry.

Is it wrong that the title Arabian Nights always makes me think of Aladdin? Greats song, great movie, but it has nothing to do with this project. According to THR, Liam Hemsworth (Chris Hemsworth’s younger brother) has been tapped to star in a new action flick of the same name, and guess what? It will be in 3D.
