Lena Dunham Reviews, Interviews & More
Bradley Cooper is a very busy man. He's set to star in David O. Russell's next project, and has also been cast in Cameron Crowe's upcoming (and still untitled) film. But that's not stopping him from saving Jane Got A Gun. The western project has gone through a lot of changes this past month; Jude Law was the latest to quit the project. But word is Cooper is stepping to save the day....
The second season finale of Girls felt much like a romantic comedy. But there were no weddings or fancy parties this time. Instead, the men of the show performed grand gestures of love and former couples reunited, while one broke up. After a dark sophomore season, "Together" was the light at the end of the tunnel we were all yearning for.
Last night's episode of Girls wasn't for the faint of heart. Lena Dunham may have been dubbed the new Woody Allen, but "On All Fours" had the dark tone of a David Lynch film. Hannah has hit a new low. She's in such a messed up frame of mind that she makes the cast from Girl, Interrupted seem OK. Sadly, she's not the only one who's about...
Last night, Girls revealed some juicy information. "It's Back" roped in Hannah's parents, who highlighted a surprising detail about her life. Meanwhile Marnie, who's still dressing like a magician's assistant, revealed her true passion.
The relationship between Hannah and Jessa is rarely explored on Girls. It's unfortunate because Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke have vibrant chemistry and their onscreen friendship is unreserved. Last night's episode "Video Games" was set in the country; Hannah and Jessa get away from the bustling city and ex-husbands like Thomas-John.
Once again, Girls has shifted its focus. "Boys" explored the funny and complex lives of the males on the show, specifically Ray and Adam's. They bonded over women, dogs and their own "weird looks." It was one of the strangest bromances we've ever seen on TV -- and that's saying something.
At one point during last night's Girls, Hannah Horvath said, mid-makeout, "I am so confused." That's exactly what "One Man's Trash" was--confusing. Once again, Lena Dunham focused on her character and ignored the rest of the marvelous cast. Patrick Wilson guest starred as Hannah's latest love interest, but even he couldn't keep us from missing Shoshanna's quirk.
It's been said that HBO's Girls is like nothing else on TV. Last night's "It's A Shame About Ray" lived up to the hype as the series' best episode yet. The emotion and reality of unstable 20-somethings was beautifully executed. Beautifully. If you're still mumbling that Lena Dunham is a talentless rich girl, you need to stop. Admit it, she has a special knack...
In Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw wrote a column about her personal experiences with men. She really put herself out there, but most of her "crazier" articles (like those about threesomes and enhancement drugs) came from her friends. In last night's Girls episode, oddly titled "Bad Friend," Hannah scores a freelancing writing gig at JazzHate, an online website...
Girls has returned more fearless than ever. Lena Dunham promised that if you didn't like the first season, you were definitely going to hate the second one. And now we're beginning to see why. The sex is more raw (like we said in last week's episode), but the characters also seem to be more self-involved than ever--in "I Get Ideas," Hannah is delusional about her...
Last night, Girls made a triumphant return to television. At the 70th Annual Golden Globes, Lena Dunham beat veteran comediennes Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for Best Actress in a TV Comedy or Musical. Plus, it was awarded Best Comedy Series over more popular shows like Modern Family and The Big Bang Theory. But besides that, Girls delivered the goods in its...
Nicolas Winding Refn's next feature will star Denzel Washington as a former government spy. How great is that? The Drive director will helm The Equalizer, a lose adaptation of the 1980's TV show of the same name. Also, for those of you who've been having Girls withdrawals since the first season ended in June, we've...
Thanksgiving is nearly here, and there are a lot of things to be grateful for in the world of movies and television. We all like to poke fun at Hollywood for some of the crappy movies they invest in, and also some of the unfunny comedies that are still airing on TV, but the truth is we love this stuff. It's why we write about it. Thanksgiving is about reflecting and giving thanks, so...
Louis C.K.'s Louie won't be returning to TV until 2014. Thankfully, we'll all have a chance to catch the comedian's comedian on SNL when he hosts next month. Also, Cameron Crowe is close to locking in the male lead for his upcoming romantic comedy (still untitled), which already stars Emma Stone. We'll give you a hint:...
Joaquin Phoenix's performance in The Master is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best) of the year. But he could care less about whether or not his performance was "Oscar-worthy." The actor recently said that he doesn't believe in the Academy Awards and that he does not want the gold statue. Also, Lena Dunham announced the official return date of...
Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are creating quite a lot of buzz with their upcoming movie Silver Linings Playbook. Peter Travers even said that he predicts Lawrence will win the Oscar for her performance. The movie looks like a quirky love story between two dysfunctional characters, and the new trailer explores their personalities a bit more. Also, Adele debuted...
This week, Kristen Stewart bailed out of the gritty indie movie Cali, which she was set to star in with Alex Pettyfer. Also, Sean Penn decided he wants to return to the director's chair and is currently in talks to helm an Into the Wild-y type of movie called Crazy for the Storm. And Keira Knightley will be in the...
This week, HBO announced that Lena Dunham's Girls will be returning at the very beginning of 2013. We also have the trailer for Nobody Walks, a movie which Dunham co-wrote with indie director Ry Russo-Young. On a different note, Warner Bros. seems to be prepping a Batman reboot already, and could...
The season finale of Girls truly lived up to its mantra: "Living the dream. One mistake at a time." Hannah, Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna found themselves under the same roof with each other and boyfriends from the past and present. It was a recipe for disaster, but somehow, "She Did" managed to be a great conclusion to the show's first season.
There was a smorgasbord of confrontations and bickering on last night's Girls. In "Leave Me Alone," Hannah attended the book party of a former classmate/nemesis where she made no attempt to hide her envy. Jessa's old boss Katherine showed up at her apartment and shared some violent dreams she'd been having about her. And the unseemly best friends, Hannah and Marnie,...
