With Thanksgiving weekend just passed, it seems that the studio is slow on their roll with this weeks releases. To wit, there are no big classic titles hitting streets today, but there are a number of recent movies, including the latest Step Up film, Men in Black III, and some of the late summer films. Check it out.
The start of Oscar season is usually packed with a lot of hopefuls based on casts and prestige possibilities, but the reality is that at some point, someone's going to see your movie, and eventually consensus will build. One day you may be the talk of the town, and then the next day your movie will come out in limited theaters and find no audience. Or just as bad, it's forgotten about it...
Before Labor Day, the deadest weekend of the year to date was the weekend of August 24, when The Expendables 2 was able to stay on top when films like Premium Rush and Hit and Run failed to make an impression. This week is that much deader.

The Road director John Hillcoat is tackling the Prohibition era in Lawless. With a cast of breakouts and veterans, it's filled with eye-catching performances. Unfortunately, the film suffers from a few fundamental issues that take it from poignant to mediocre.
Though it premiered at the Cannes festival to modestly positive reviews, we're still hungry to see Tom Hillcoat's Lawless - which stars Tom Hardy, Shia LaBeouf, Jessica Chastain and Guy Pearce - something fierce. The film doesn't come out theatrically until August, so we'll have to make due with this new clip from Hulu.
