After the original X-Men Trilogy wrapped in 2006, two spin-offs were put into development: X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Magneto. Obviously, Wolverine has come and gone but Magneto hasn’t seen the light of day. The film, which would chronicle the rise of the supervillain has taken a backseat to another property, X-Men First Class.

Last week, we posted a story from actor Tim Pocock‘s Twitter page stating his involvement with the upcoming X-Men: First Class film. According to his latest posting, someone broke into his account and published that info without his permission. He clarified that he is filming an Australian TV show, but not working on First Class. X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner also stepped in to clear the air regarding the status of the upcoming film.

Two titles at the top of the Marvel list are Deadpool and the upcoming Wolverine sequel. Last week I posted an article asking the question, who should be next in line to have their own X-Men spin-off? So much hype has been thrown in the direction of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool that I felt that producers forgot about the earliest X-Men Origins project, Magneto. Both Magneto and Wolverine were developed right after X3, but Wolverine got the upper hand. Since then the Magneto property has been dormant and not much has been said about its future. Finally one of the X-Men film producers opened up about the character and his possible solo film.
