Featuring as it does a charming performance by Bill Murray as Franklin Delano Roosevelt, a series of humorous culture clashes between British royalty and American customs, a Rushmore reunion (Olivia Williams co-stars with Murray as Eleanor Roosevelt), and a sharp look back at FDR’s philandering as well as his hosting of the King and Queen of England in New York for a week just prior to World War II, the trailer for Hyde Park on Hudson is a winner. The film, which stars Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, and Ray Liotta, Laura Linney, and Dennis Haysbert, is a chaotic dark comedy, dripping with the offbeat indie sensibility which is characteristic of Sundance dramedys. Seems as if you want to get an all-star cast in line, just make a comedy about something no one wants to laugh at! Apatow has Rogen, Gordan-Levitt and Huston in I’m With Cancer and Showtime’s very similar TV show version of the film (I wonder which came first and which will work better?) attracted Oscar winners. Academy Award winning actress Laura Linney will be leading the way in the premiere tonight Showtimes upcoming series “The Big C” alongside the recently announced Oscar-nominated Gabourey Sidibe and the non-nominated but easy on the eyes Idris Elba.

So many castings, so little time. A lot of news regarding some of your favorite actors and actresses has broken overnight. Here’s a rundown of who’s hooking up with who and for what project.
- Dwayne Johnson will be going back to his action roots with his latest film. The actor is in final negotiations to star in Faster, where he’ll play an ex-con trying to avenge his brothers death. The film will reteam the actor with Gridiron Gang director Phil Joanau. [Variety]
- After the greatness that was 2001′s The Score, Edward Norton and Robert De Niro are reuniting for another project. They will star in the indie thriller, Stone. De Niro will play “a correctional officer who is seduced by the wife of a convicted arsonist (Norton) up for parole.”[Variety]
- James McAvoy, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, and Anna Friel will star in a comedy entitled, The Details. The film will be directed by Jacob Estes, who also wrote the screenplay featuring a couple who disagrees about how to handle a raccoon infestation in their backyard. [RopeofSilicon]
