‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ New Character Posters Bring The Bland

Not to have its thunder stolen by The Avengers’ runaway box office, Prometheus’ mysterious buzz, The Amazing Spider-Man’s inevitable Fourth of July weekend dominion, or The Dark Knight Rises’ guaranteed success (or crappy posters), The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 has dropped a series of bland character posters on the world today. Featuring a trio of the blank stares we’ve all come to know and moderately tolerate, the posters are below.

Hey, we’ll give them this—at least they’re better than the “Let’s write the words ‘Twilight’ and ‘Breaking Dawn’ over a smudge and then release it” thinking that went into the original teaser poster for the upcoming film, right?

Pay close attention and you’ll note that—gasp!—Kristen Stewart’s eyes are red, which means she totes a vampire now, you guyz. Totes! OMG, it’s juuuuuuust like the books. Which, in keeping with the last book, this film will revolve around some kind of vampire army and then a 20 year old muscle-bound werewolf falls in love with a newborn vampire baby and then Stewart will look at things blankly with her mouth slightly agape and set the feminist movement back about 50 years. Something like that.

Stewart costarts with Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner in Twilight: Seriously—How Many More Punctuation Marks Can We Awkwardly Wedge Into This Title?, which is set for a November 16, 2012 release.

‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Goes Interactive with its Latest Trailer

Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman is hitting theaters June 1, and as we wait, they’re trying something new with the marketing. We’ve seen commentaries for trailers before, but now we’ve got an interactive trailer that lets you comment, share, buy tickets, and also get snippets of factoids about the making of the film. Check it out below

The film stars Charlize Theron, Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth and looks to be epic, but Universal is coming off of Battleship – which is looking to be a domestic disaster – and this hasn’t been tracking sky high like they may have hoped. Perhaps this new marketing tool will get people excited about the project. Though we have no evidence, I think the fact that this isn’t prepping to be the next big blockbuster is part of the reason why Disney’s Snow White project is dead, on top of it being the third such attempt (following this and Mirror Mirror). Anyway, here’s the trailer:

This is the same trailer that’s playing theaters, but now with the option to learn more about the characters. The trailer looks spectacular, but it’s possible that first time helmer Rupert Sanders is the new Joseph Kosinski. We’ll know for sure when the film hits theaters shortly.

New ‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Clip Features Kristen Stewart And Charlize Theron In Violent Battle

While the big summer buzz is mostly attached to The Avengers, Prometheus, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises, Snow White and The Huntsman has been steadily building up steam on the way to its June 1 premiere. We’ve already seen a great full trailer, received news of a pre-approved sequel, and caught a great poster and solid new clip. Now, MTV has released a clip of what looks like the climactic battle between Kristen Stewart’s Snow White and Charlize Theron’s Queen Ravenna—and it looks good.

Taken out of context, it’s a little chaotic, as Chris Hemsworth seems to be leading some kind of assault against some pretty stunning CGI baddies within a castle’s walls; that said, the intensity/chemistry between Stewart and Theron is the main attraction here. Get this: Stewart actually emotes in the scene, showing more emotion than her typical gape-mouthed Twilight expression by letting loose with battle cry before attacking Theron.

While the clip leaves us hanging by obviously not showing the results of the final confrontation, it does offer up a nice preview of what is increasingly appearing to be a very solid and interesting take on the Snow White tale. We’ll know for sure when the film hits theaters on June 1; until then, we’ll be hitting “replay” on the video below.

‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Releases Full Poster, New Clip

It seems like it was so long ago when we saw the very first trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman. Since then, the excitement has been building–there’s just something about Rupert Sanders‘ live-action version of the Snow White tale that feels right. And now, Universal has released a new official clip and poster for the film. Check those out after the jump.

The clip first premiered on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno when Kristen Stewart dropped by to promote the movie. The clip features Snow embracing her inner warrior, as she’s able to control an enormous and hideous troll with a simple scream.

The final poster shows all three main characters–The Huntsman, Snow White and Queen Ravenna–but puts its emphasis on Chris Hemsworth‘s Huntsman. And this being an action-adventure, there’s a lot of sharp objects including two axes and a sharp blade.

Snow White and the Huntsman stars Stewart as Snow as she faces off against Charlize Theron‘s evil queen who is out to destroy her. It’s definitely not like the giddy Mirror Mirror that hit theaters earlier this year. The film opens on June 1, 2012.

‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Sequel Is Already Happening

Despite the fact that the Snow White and the Huntsman won’t be released until June, just like The Avengers 2 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Snow White and the Huntsman 2 has already been fast tracked into development. So, even before seeing the upcoming film starring Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron in an epic adventure in which the vampire girl and Thor do battle with Aileen Wuornos. Do I have that right?

First Showing has it that, thanks to a heaping helping of solid buzz, and the built in audience that swords ‘n sandals type fantasy films attract (not to mention a certain someone’s Twilight audience), Universal has already tapped David Koepp (Jurassic Park) to write the script for the sequel. Further, Universal is fast-tracking the film into an early production in order to secure returning director Rupert Sanders.

Still, it’s a risky gambit to bet a sequel on a film which is still several weeks away from its official release, and hasn’t technically made any of its budget back yet. Also, it does exactly remove some of the stakes in the film, as (unless the sequel is entitled Snow White: Dead and Loving It!) a sequel all but guarantees that most of the cast will survive the first film.

Latest ‘Twilight’ Stills Reveal ‘Breaking Dawn Part 2′ Spoilers

Well, spoilers in the sense that what seemed readily apparent at the end of the first half of Twilight‘s Breaking Dawn is confirmed. Kristen Stewart‘s Bella is a vampire now. We had hope that writer/director Bill Condon would elevate the material a little, but at this point the movies are what they are. So check out the latest stills…

Are you ready? Cause they’re really exciting.

Boom:

Hey look, it’s that Taylor Lautner kid giving his “Blue Steel!” Wow, do you think he’s going to turn into a werewolf or something shortly after this, or is he just posing for his yearbook? That’s a look that says “maybe he’s really angry, or maybe he just wants a sandwich.” We’d bet Lautner made this face for hours after someone read him the reviews of Abduction.

But wait, there’s a little more:

Look at the happy couple. Question to the Twilight fans, we’ve seen the first film, but haven’t read the books, do they get to have sex again? Does it come up? We hope so, because the violent sex between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson was easily the most entertaining part of the last movie. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits theaters November 16, and we can’t wait.

‘The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2′ Releases Laziest Poster Ever

Apparently, when a film franchise can make hundreds of millions of dollars on name recognition alone, you don’t have to put a lot of money, attention or detail into little things like advertising—specifically, poster art. Case in point: The Twilight franchise, wherein the new teaser poster for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 might feature one of the laziest poster designs in recent memory.

Apparently, Summit Entertainment couldn’t even be bothered to slap together the quickly airbrushed heads of Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson together; instead, we get the overlong title of the film, and some swirly, out of focus blurs, colors and smudges. Call it The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2: Photoshopped in 30 Minutes or Less, if you like.

That said, Summit Entertainment probably doesn’t need to do much to advertise the massively anticipated final chapter in its series of films about a teenager and the sparkly corpse and man-dog that love her, so a rather lazily composed poster is easy to forgive. Honestly, at this point, all Summit has do to is scribble the film’s title and release date in a handwritten scrawl across some store-bought poster board and they’d still clear $100 million the first weekend. Never underestimate the appeal of sparkly corpses, people.

‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part II’ Is Going Back For Reshoots

Reshoots are usually buzzed about because it’s often a sign that a film isn’t working, but director Bill Condon has gone out of his way to assure Twilight fans that the recently announced reshoots for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part II are just par for the course. He also hints that the film is about to unleash its full trailer shortly. Check out his statement below…

Condon suggests that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be involved with the reshoots, but makes no mention of Taylor Lautner, which also suggests this is just a touch up or two. As the two-parter was shot as one long movie, this really shouldn’t be a surprise. Here’s Condon’s note, from Facebook:

Hello Twihards!

Greetings from Los Angeles, where we’re hard at work on BREAKING DAWN, PART TWO. It’s truly crazy to think that it’s been a year since we wrapped production in Vancouver, since for those of us in the editing room the work has never stopped.

A film is a lot like a puzzle, with each piece – each shot, no matter how brief – needing to fit exactly with the ones around it. Our Part Two puzzle is finally coming into full view, and in a few weeks we’ll be heading back north to pick up some additional shots – the last tiny missing pieces. We’re not shooting any new scenes or dialogue, just some technical work with some of our cast and stunt actors.

I am really looking forward to being back on set with some of the friends I’ve made on my Twilight journey, like the great Guillermo Navarro, our cinematographer, and his crew. And yes, Rob and Kristen will be there too, to pop in those gold contacts one last time…

I’m excited to report that before too long we’ll have another trailer for you to decode. And wait until you see the first posters — they’re unlike any “Twilight” images you’ve seen before. And then November 16th will be upon us and the final film will be yours!

Reshoots are often seen as a bad thing, but that’s usually because they’re done after a test screening shows the movie’s problems. It’s possible this is more than what he says, but it seems unlikely.

In the annals of reshoots, sometimes the new scenes work, and sometimes they’re just used as scotch tape to cut sections of a film that were scrapped. Woody Allen notoriously reshot one of his films (September) in its entirety, while recently we’ve heard word on both John Carter and Men in Black III doing extensive reshoots. But you know what also went back to get more footage? The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It seems that bad buzz iss saved for films that are already troubled. The film is due out November 16.

Just one week ago, we received the latest in that most obnoxious marketing trend: the trailer for the trailer—a commercial advertising that we’ll be seeing a commercial soon. That fact that it was a teaser for a teaser of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 didn’t make it any less irritating. But now, Twi-Hards, your wait is over, and you can now view the full teaser for the upcoming film in which Kristen Stewart continues to not act, but this time she red eyes. Totes red eyes, you guys!

View the teaser below, in which Stewart’s Bella Swan is now a vampire, leading her new vamp hubby Edward to declare, “Now we’re the same temperature,” which is both a comment on the fact that they are now as cold as corpses, as well as a nice unintentional reference to the cold and wooden performances that litter this franchise.

So there you have it—Bella running around the woods at superhuman speed, Bella sporting red eyes, Bella fetishizing her ring, Bella getting ready to gore a defenseless deer while violently draining its body of life, blood, and sinew—everything a teen girl would want to see in the final installment of the Twilight franchise (at least, of course, until Lionsgate/Summit start making ever more of these things). The film premieres on November 16, 2012.

Teaser For The Trailer For Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 2

Oh man. It’s almost here. The end of Twilight as we know it. Breaking Dawn Part 2 will be released November 16, but until that time, fans will have wait patiently with small glimpses of footage, and haters will be stuck counting the days until it’s all finally over. To tide one of those parties over there’s now a teaser for the trailer that will be attached to The Hunger Games. Check it out…

As with all teaser for teasers, there’s very little here, expect glimpses at your leads Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. But this is obviously from the new film as we see that Stewart’s Bella can move at vampire speeds. Other than that… well it is a teaser for a teaser.

Calling this the end may be a bit of an exaggeration, but many involved seem happy to walk away from the madness. Stewart is moving on in interesting directions (between On the Road and Snow White and the Hunstman), Pattinson is in the next David Cronenberg movie, and Taylor Lautner might actually get another project off the ground at some point. That’s possible. Sure. Even if a majority of the main cast is moving onwards and upwards, piles and piles and cash have been known to sway even the most stout of objections. From Marlon Brando to Sean Connery, actors tend to have a figure that they can’t refuse.

And then there’s talks of more movies. Perhaps the Cullen family can be brought in as well. We’ve yet to see what happens when this cast isn’t working, and a new Twilight film might be just the break they need from signing booths in three years time.

Full Snow White and the Huntsman Trailer Has Been Released

Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron are heading up the big-screen action-fantasy film version of Snow White and the Huntsman, and it feels weird to say this, but man does this look right. Perhaps it’s films like Mirror, Mirror that set the tone for films like this – we’re used to redresses of classic fairy tales done in a mockish style – but there’s something about this trailer that suggests scale and it never feels cloying about its origins. The influx of new spins on classic fairy tales seems drawn from the inherent name recognition and the success of Tim Burton‘s Alice in Wonderland, but Huntsman looks like a new approach to the material – perhaps the other films feel the need to acknowledge that Walt Disney did many of these stories in classic animated films. Huntsman also doesn’t seem too gothic or dark–it’s not going for the full Dark Knight treatment. It seems to be the exact right tone for this sort of movie, which is surprising considering its director – Rupert Sanders – is a first time feature filmmaker (he’s done commercials).

This also gives our first quick look at the dwarfs, which could be the film’s Achilles heel. The dwarfs are a part of this story, and the trailer suggest that this film draws on the Joseph Campbellian archetypes of “destiny” in regards to Stewart’s Snow White – who probably does go on some sort of hero’s journey. Still, this looks fun and cool and everything that the project probably shouldn’t be.

That said, so many things that sound like a bad idea on paper can turn out to be pretty great if they’re done right. Hopefully this delivers on the promise of its trailer.

The latest and possibly most grotesque trend in marketing is now to offer a preview of an upcoming trailer. Or – to put it bluntly – a trailer for a trailer. These thirty second clips tease the images that will be teased at greater length in the near future. We’ve seen it with Super Bowl ads, and now we’re seeing it as a common practice for tentpole releases. Why not drag out the hype a couple more days with this sort of promotion? The latest is for Snow White and the Huntsman. Check it out.

The film is directed by Rupert Sanders, and stars Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, and Charlize Theron in this modern redress of the Snow White legend. This sort of film often gets criticized for offering modern politics in period garb, but when you’re dealing with this level of fantasy, that sort of criticism belies sexism.

I like what I see, though it will be interesting to see what they do with the seven dwarfs – who are in the movie but aren’t being marketed yet. Mirror Mirror - which also does a modern take on the Snow White legend – arrives March 30, and these two films will surely hurt each other. Audience members may be confusing the two already.

What is most questionable about the Huntsman version of Snow White is the director Rupert Sanders. Best known for his Halo commercials, the visuals are strong, but we’ve seen what happens when commercial directors are plucked to the big screen. Sometimes you get a Ridley Scott, and sometimes you get a Joseph Kosinski. But we’ll know for sure when the film hits theaters June 1.
