Fox Debuts Trailer For ‘The Following,’ Kevin Williamson’s Serial Killer Drama

Fox is giving Kevin Williamson a chance to shine with The Following, as the network revealed the first look of the serial killer series at this week’s upfront presentation. Kevin Bacon stars as a former FBI agent who gets back in the game to hunt down an escaped convict who bases his murders on works by Edgar Allen Poe. Weird, very weird stuff–and now you can check out the trailer below.

Williamson’s writing credits include The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, Dawson’s Creek and the Scream movies. The Following seems like a different type of monster though, since it has little to do with teen angst.

Here’s an official plot summary for the The Following:

THE FBI estimates there are currently over 300 active serial killers in the United States. What would happen if these killers had a way of communicating and connecting with each other? What if they were able to work together and form alliances across the country? What if one brilliant psychotic serial killer was able to bring them all together and activate a following? Welcome to “The Following”, the terrifying new thriller from creator/executive producer Kevin Williamson (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Dawson’s Creek,” the ‘Scream’ franchise). When notorious serial killer Joe Carroll (James Purefoy, “Rome”) escapes from death row and embarks on a new killing spree, the FBI calls former agent Ryan Hardy (Emmy-nominated actor Kevin Bacon, ‘X-Men: First Class’) to consult on the case. Having since withdrawn from the public eye, Hardy was responsible for Carroll’s capture nine years ago, after Carroll murdered 14 female students on the Virginia college campus where he taught literature.

The series also stars James Purefoy as Joe Carroll, Jeananne Goossen as Agent Jennifer Mason, Natalie Zea as Claire Matthews, Kyle Catlett as Joey Matthews, Shawn Ashmore as Agent Weston, Valorie Curry as Denise, Adan Canto as Billy Thomas and Nico Tortorella as Will Wilson.

The idea of hunting down an artsy serial killer is intriguing. And there’s also Mr. Bacon, an actor who tends to chose pretty good projects. At the same time, the premise is questionable–will they be able to keep the hunt going and keep things interesting? Only time will tell. For now, check out the trailer below:

The Following will debut in 2013.

Interview: Craig Brewer on Footloose

Craig Brewer is – from all accounts – one of the biggest fans of Footloose in the world. So in that way he seems like safe hands for the remake of the Kevin Bacon teen favorite from 1984. But for those who’ve seen his previous films (Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan) you might think he’d take it to darker places. And what’s surprising about his take is that it’s very faithful and PG in its approach. We talked to Brewer about the film. his film, and Kevin Bacon. Check it out.

I’m curious what was your writing relationship like with Dean Pitchford – he having written this so long ago – as you’re both credited. Was there anything he wanted to fix?

I didn’t meet Dean until after I finished my script. The only reason why we share screenplay credit is I did exactly what I told them I would do, I took his script and kept some things, and changed other things. When I write my scripts I have two corkboards that are filled with twenty-five index cards, so it’s fifty cards. So I write my movie across those cards. And I choose a color, Hustle and Flow was yellow, Black Snake Moan was Blue, and I just did Tarzan – Green.

They only make so many colored cards. I made a certain code, I was going to do Footloose in white, except the scenes I was going to keep and those were in blue, as in true blue. So if you looked at my boards you could see that it was white and blue and white and blue. Because there’d be something like “the angry dance” That’s a blue card. The city council scene, that’s a blue card, but this wreck at the beginning of the movie? That’s a white card following a blue card of the dancing feet. So even if there were a little bit different, there’d be a card.

At a certain point I didn’t want to move forward until Dean read the script. And he read it and he loved it, and he knew I was a huge fan of the original. I call myself a Footloose-ologist, I know everything there is, and he felt that. I came from theater. I was also very emotional about the whole thing. I know he gets it a lot but he made something that was so important to me. And now I’m a writer, and I don’t know if I’ll ever make something that is that important to somebody, but I needed Footloose when I was thirteen, I know there’s a lot of people who needed it at that age. And we’ve become really close, he’s a good guy. I think the world of him.

So when you’re looking at the board, with the blue and the white, did you ever look at the board and think “this is going blue, blue, blue” or white, white white, did you think about the patterns of it?

All I did was try to figure out what would make Footloose a little more relevant to today. And the first thing I thought about what’s the same different for me from when I was thirteen, because it wasn’t just the music and the dancing. There had to be something else that was working on me.

And I think it’s my experience, I’m from a small town in the South, my parents moved around a lot, and I was always in bigger cities, Chicago, Orange County. When I would go back home to the South I was a bit of a weirdo. I was listening to Prince on my Walkman, and had mousse in my hair. I had this one Michael Jackson zipper jacket from Beat it, which I bought at Merry-Go-Round, I don’t know if you guys know it but it’s a store that they had back in the eighties, where you’d go to buy leather ties with piano keys on it. And I’d go home to the south and all my uncles and cousins would look at me weird, and that was my connection to Footloose, that was my connection to it – I always thought it took place in the South, it wasn’t until I got older that I was like “oh, that’s more Midwest.”

But I found though that now I’m a parent, I’ve got two kids, and I’ll hear my wife say “Wren” (Wren with a W) “Wren just fell down” And I now it’s just a scraped knee, but I immediately go to “death.” I mean it’s a strange thing, it just changes you being a parent – I used to not think this way. And now I do, and it’s just these kids – they hold my heart in ransom. And I understand these parents now, and this tragedy, and if we made the tragedy early in the movie and how it affected the movie in the small town, and it made this ban on parties and congregating necessarily fanciful, I think it made it more relevant than it did in ’84.

Did you see the original script they had for the remake? How did you feel about it?

I always want to be respectful to other writers or directors, so I don’t have anything bad to say about it, and who’s to say those versions would work if they were ultimately realized? What I can speak to is that the team that was making High School Musical was making Footloose, and there was a particular swell of that kind of content at the time. Glee was taking off, American Idol was huge, so I can understand why the studio would want to go in that direction.

But when they parted with that and came to me, they knew I was a huge fan of Footloose and I remember I passed on it twice, I said “no it can’t be done, Footloose is a classic” all the sh*t I hear people say to me now, that I retweet for my mental sanity. Good and bad, I’m just sending it back out there.

I guess I tried to remind them of what was in the original. “So you’re cool with me having the character smoke, drink, have underage sex, have boyfriends beat their girlfriends?” And they were like “what?” I was like “it was in Footloose. It was all in there.” In fact I guarantee if that first Footloose came out now it’d be R, and I’m not saying they’d change a thing on it – when I submitted my first cut to the MPAA it came back R because of two lines from the original that I had to change. So everyone views that first Footloose through rose tinted glasses, that’s why it was so shocking for me as a thirteen year old. “If I’ve got a problem in high school I have to jump on a tractor and run into them?”

What was it like casting Kenny Wormland and Julianne Hough in these role?

Kenny is that surprise for everybody, because I think everyone’s like me thinking “how can anybody replace Kevin Bacon?” And I understand that, but it’s a little bit arrogant. It’s arrogant for me to say to thirteen year olds, “you have to have the exact same experience I had when I was thirteen.”

I remember going to see the new Karate Kid in Memphis Tennessee, and it was an audience filled with thirteen year old African-American boys and girls, and they were all wearing the same shirts so they must have been part of the same school or church. They were all cheering and loving it. And I said to my wife “what, do I have to turn around and tell them they have to love Ralph Macchio?” You can’t look at Jayden and connect to him? What are we going to do? Are they not going to have that narrative arc experience?

I think when I got Kenny in front of me, and auditioned him, I found he had a connection, he understood Ren McCormack, he lived Ren McCormack, and Footloose meant as much to him as it did to me. And I really wanted soldiers in the effort of Footloose, I wanted people who didn’t want to reinvent the wheel, I wanted people who understood the spirit.

What do you wish from this movie?

I’ve been on this tour, and showed it around America, and I’ve showed this a number of times, and at every intro I ask “raise of hands who hasn’t seen the original Footloose?” You’d be surprised, it’s half the audience that raises their hand. But there’s a minute where I have to let the audience grumble. “How can you have not seen Footloose?” I can understand thirteen year olds, but you’d be surprised there’s a lot of older people.

My wish is that people who’ve never seen Footloose are going to get the same feeling I had when I saw the original. I felt inspired, I felt a sense of camaraderie, I experienced a friendship that I could be from someplace else I could bump into someone from someplace else and be best of buds. I want them to have the experience I had with my family.

My family loves Footloose, they let me hear the S word or the F word – whatever was in it – because they believed there was a moral they believed in, and they shared in that joy with me. And it’s particularly special because a lot of people who saw it back in the day have kids. We’ve got teenaged kids even. And it’s a special thing to adults when I reveal the VW bug in my movie, and lean down to their kids to say “that’s from the original.” It’s the one thing that I didn’t have in my original experience. I had my dad, but now we have people like us who know the original, and we feel we’re somewhat a part of this. We tried to pepper in visual nods along with dramatic nods to the original.

Did you feel nervous about the dance sequences?

Not at all, I felt very comfortable with those. The only thing we were worried about was that we wanted it to be amazing dancing, but we didn’t want it to look choreographed. We didn’t want it to look like everyone’s moving in unison, except for the line dancing song where everyone’s moving in unison. Hustle and Flow, Black Snake Moan, I feel like I get music moments, so those were fun for me. I was more worried about “are people going to get into the friendships?” “Are people going to connect to Ariel and her conflict?”

We hear you wrote a part for Kevin Bacon.

It’s not true. In one of my first drafts I wrote a character that was Ren’s Deadbeat dad. And the studio came to me and said “is there any role for Kevin?” And I said the only role I see for him – I don’t see him playing the preacher or the uncle – but if he wanted to play the deadbeat dad… and Kevin’s been supportive of the whole thing.

Has he seen it?

No, he’s filming in Boston. But he passed on the part because he felt that it would hurt the movie, so I cut it out of the script, and he was right. We didn’t need it. Tarzan!

Crazy, Stupid, Love: Movie Review

Crazy, Stupid, Love, is another simple, funny, easy to swallow and in no way challenging comedy that was made for everyone. It’s got some fine actors, giving good performances (though none of their best) with some solid comedic lines and quite a bit of heart. My only problem is that it really wasn’t anything that new or different. That’s not to say that this is a bad film, it’s just not great, it’s perfectly mediocre…

The Plot:

A father’s life unravels while he deals with a marital crisis and tries to manage his relationship with his children.

The Good:

Embracing the Title: Love is crazy, love is stupid, and love is lovely when it works — this film does an extroniadry job at showing the ridiculousness that is love and what all us stupid humans are willing to do to try and achieve it.
Acting: Gosling is charming enough to give this otherwise blank and mindless character enough intrigue to keep us watching, and perhaps now he’ll go from indie darling to A-list hottie. Possible career move? Could be, but it was fun to watch, especially if you want something extra with your average comedy. Stone is once again extremely funny and I appreciated her embodying the spirit of a woman taking what she wants and having both a mind and body. Carell is as funny as he always is, but also shows us his acting which gives him more of that Little Miss Sunshine-edge. Moore, Tomei and the rest of the gang all did a solid job at delivering both solid performances and some memorable one-liners.
Sense of Self: There were some solid one liners and great moments that had the whole audience laughing while mixed into the tried and true rom-com format. There are a number of cliches, which normally would have driven me mad if not for the line “this is so cliche” from within the film. The film knows what it is and plays with the idea, which gives it some unique moment, but more importantly, it knows who its target audience is and what they want, and for the most part it delivers without a hitch.
The ‘Dirty Dancing’ Moment: It’s so cheesy and yet it somehow has power… There’s something to be said for Stone and Goslings performances in that scene that take your from ridiculous comedy to sudden romance.

The Bad:

The Average-ness: The film breaks almost no new ground, it didn’t leave me loving it, it left me feeling quite tepid, which for me is a major pet peeve because I enjoy watching filmmakers take risks. There is nothing challenging about this film. That being said, Crazy, Stupid, Love is not about breaking new ground, and if you’re going for a sweet, easy-to-watch romantic comedy, this film has what you’re looking for.

Overall:

It won’t blow you away but if you’re looking to turn your brain off for 90 minutes and have a few good laughs with some fine actors, this is a great pick for you.

X-Men First Class: Movie Review

The X-Men are back with their latest edition X-Men: First Class, a prequel to all of the other X-men films showing us the origins of the gang. Rest assured that walking into this film you can spit out the awful taste of Wolverine and be excited take everything First Class has to offer. The quite film obviously has a much stronger script, they managed to gather a stellar cast of real actors, and did a brilliant job of controlling the chaos that comes with so many story-lines and characters that make the X-Men films so great. Though I’m not quite as keen as some of my fellow critics on this film, there’s not doubt that this is a great summer film and quite possible the best action film you’ll see this year (though I’d love to be disproved). Let’s find out why…

The Good:

Fassbender: As my fellow ScreenCraver Damon Houx said, “Michael Fassbender is officially a movie star now.” He literally just chews up this role and fascinates and intrigues you in every shot he’s in. He looks great on screen, he’s immensely talented and he has the ability to completely captivate a room. Watch out Pitt, Fassbender has officially made it.
All the Acting: The same goes for James McAvoy who gives an equally strong performance – though he isn’t getting as much recognition because he doesn’t get to play the fun bad-y and it’s always harder to play the good guy in a film like this. And supporting the fine lead actors were numerous other grand actors Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and numerous other faces you’ll recognize such as Ray Wise, James Remar and Michael Ironside.
Cameos: Don’t worry! I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that they have some well placed, well timed cameos for fan of the series to enjoy.
Tackling the Characters: There are a LOT of characters and emotional twists in this film, and it’s imperative to the film that you be invested in each individual. Luckily, they did a great job of giving every character their moment and balancing all of the different characters stories.

The So-So:

Kevin Bacon: Now I love me some Bacon as much as the next person, but for some reason he never transcended his own body and became the character. It may have been a better role for someone, who much like the rest of the cast you know, but isn’t quite as “known”.
January Jones: No one can pull off a diamond bikini better than her, but man oh man would it be nice to see her as something different than play the overly simplified, sexy blond. Someone get some dirt on her and make her cry goddammit!

The Bad:

The Camp: Now I love me a campy movie, but this film is not campy, it’s strong, powerful, dramatic, with some comedic moments. When they took the comedy over the edge and added those cliched campy moments it somewhat cheapened the rest of the film.

Overall:

This is most likely one of the better if not best action films you’ll see this summer (I will see Super 8 soon and see if I have to take this back). It’s not completely perfect and loses some steam (though I’m getting picky with that) in the last act, but it has a hell of a set up and ending, the acting in it would win awards if they were in an emotional drama and not a summer blockbuster, and there is plenty of razzle dazzle to keep everyone entertained. There’s plenty for both the boys and the girls of all ages in the film — it’s really an amazingly fun, accessible piece of cinema.

Crazy, Stupid, Love Trailer Offers Laughs, Entire Plot

Crazy, Stupid, Love, the new film from Glenn Ficarra and John Requa opens July 29 this year, and a trailer has just been released. The film stars Steve Carell, Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Kevin Bacon and Marisa Tomei. The trailer promises a lot of heart, a couple of laughs, and seems to lay out everything that happens in the movie from start to finish. Take a look…

Though the trailer is clever, this trailer seems to spell out every act of the movie. First act: Steve Carell gets dumped by his wife, who cheated on him. Then he meets Ryan Gosling’s character who seems part-ladies man, part-”Jersey Shore” cast member. Second Act: Carell gets his life together, Gosling falls in love. Third act, they see if they can make it work.

That said, the narrative of a romantic comedy is usually predicated on the leads – if a movie stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew McCaunghey, it’s not as if they won’t end up together in the end. And the jokes in the film look pretty funny.

It’s also a good role for Gosling, who’s the super-serious actor of the moment, and doing something goofy and light could make for a nice respite from his actor’s studio performances. And it’ll be good for those who are suffering from Carell withdrawal after he leaves “The Office.”

Crazy, Stupid, Love… Are you in or out?

Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page in Super Movie Trailer

The first trailer for James Gunn’s feature film Super has been released. The movie is about a vigilante superhero and his overeager sidekick. Rainn Wilson and Ellen Page are the sadistic duo that take matters into their own hands when the cops fail. The play by their own rules and the law need not apply. Check them out in action…

Super centers on regular guy who takes on a superhero alter ego when his wife falls under the spell of a notorious drug dealer played by Kevin Bacon. And by spell we mean heroin, coke, crack, whatever drug he has in his arsenal. After she becomes a full on druggie he’s pushed to the edge and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Bacon looks pretty snazzy in this trailer. Granted he plays a horrible person, but he dresses nice. He’s almost a more modern version of his character Sebastian Shaw in X-Men First Class.

Doesn’t this bring back old Juno memories to see both Page and Wilson together again? It’s been too long.

Super opens in theaters on April 1st.

Watch This: X-Men First Class Movie Trailer!!

After a long and tedious wait, 20th Century Fox has released the trailer for their comic adaptation, X-Men: First Class. The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn, who was previously hired to helm X-Men: The Last Stand but had to back out for personal reasons. Five years after that travesty, he’s making it up to us by tackling the X-Men prequel, which focuses on the origins of the superhero team and their school. Check out the trailer…

We like how the beginning of the trailer ties into the original X-Men trilogy by showing footage from Bryan Singer’s first film. Beyond that, we still have concerns regarding the inclusion of mutants such Mystique, Havok, and Azazel in the First Class story. Kevin Bacon looks surprisingly better than we suspected as Sebastian Shaw. He’s not a carbon copy of his comic book counterpart but he makes the role work for him.

It’s great to see the original Blackbird and the early blue and yellow X-Men costumes. It’s good that they left one thing untarnished.

Official Plot Synopsis:

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

The cast includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Kevin Bacon, January Jones, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Caleb Landry Jones, Lucas Till and Jason Flemyng.

More X-Men First Class Photos: Kevin Bacon’s Got Sideburns!

We literally just posted a new high resolution photo from 20th Century Fox’s X-Men First Class, now several more images have surfaced on the net. In the first photo Kevin Bacon was missing in action, but the studio has corrected that wrong. He makes his grand debut in an image alongside January Jones‘ body-suit wearing Emma Frost. Check out Beast, Banshee, and Mystique below…

When it was initially announced that Bacon would play the role of Sebastian Shaw, we were confused. He’s not a bad actor but he doesn’t physically fit the part of the character. But after looking at this photo we have to admit that he does embody some of the charm that Shaw is known for.

As for the rest of the characters, Banshee (Caleb Landry Jones) and Havok (Lucas Till) look perfect for their parts, while Nicholas Hoult’s Hank “Beast” McCoy will have to grow on us. As for Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), we don’t really know why she’s a part of this group, and are we the only ones who think that Michael Fassbender is wearing the same jacket Joseph Gordon-Levitt sported in Inception?

X-Men First Class will open in theaters nationwide on June 3, 2011.

Kevin Bacon Talks First Class, Says His Look is ‘Very Different’ From the Comics

Just yesterday we got our first look at the cast of Matthew Vaughn’s X-Men First Class. All the primary characters were featured including Professor Xavier, Magneto, and even Emma Frost, but one person was missing from the party — Sebastian Shaw. The character is the main villain in the film and he’ll be played by Kevin Bacon. Over at Moviefone, they got the opportunity to speak to the actor, and he revealed that his version of Shaw will look a lot different from what we’ve seen in the comics.

Bacon on Shaw’s physical appearance in First Class:

My look is very different from the guy in the comic books. We decided pretty early on that that was not going to translate to film. But there’s a certain kind of style to the suits that I wear, but I don’t have anything extreme in the makeup department. When you first meet me — I don’t want to spoil it — but when you first meet me, I look a little different.

On how Shaw figures into the plot:

You don’t see much [of his backstory] in the movie, but he’s kind of a self-made man. He lost his father as a young man, made his first million by the time he was 30 and first billion by time he was 40. He’s a very powerful billionaire and also, as it turns out, a mutant. He’s the leader of the Hellfire Club, which is a nightclub for the rich and extremely powerful. And he has a plot to take over the world, so that’s really fun. He’s incredibly good at manipulating people and at taking whatever kind of energy or ability they have and using it to his advantage, like if he’s talking to a German, he’s fluent in German. He’s very charming and able to get whatever he wants.

In the comics, The Hellfire Club consists of an elite group of mutants who dress in Victorian garb. Since it’s been turned into a night club, which is more relatable, we wonder if they’ll have a costume night where everyone has to dress in clothes from the past? That would be a great way to incorporate the original vibe of the characters without going too over the top.

As for the appearance of Shaw himself, Bacon looks nothing like the guy. He’s supposed to be tall, dark, and muscular. It seems as if they’re going to play up his charm and personality as opposed to his physical prowess.

X-Men First Class opens on June 3, 2011.

VOTD: Kevin Bacon Loves Kevin Bacon in Logitech Revue with Google TV Ad

We don’t really need another reason to love Kevin Bacon but we just found one. The actor is using his familiar face and narcissism to promote Logitech Revue with Google TV. The star appears in a television ad where he plays a man who has a very distinct obsession — with Kevin Bacon. With everyone else it takes six degrees but with him it only takes one. See what happens when self love goes too far…

The Logitech Revue supposedly allows you to watch all kinds of video content whether its from cable/satellite, broadcast television, or the internet, hence the addition of Google TV. How does Kevin Bacon fit into this equation exactly?

Obviously the actor is making fun of himself here and it’s not meant to be taken seriously. This video is pretty funny and we love the way that he crosses his fingers after his wife says he might turn into Kevin Bacon one day. Little does he know, he already has.

This doesn’t make me want to purchase a Logitech Revue but it does make me want to watch Footloose. Just saying.

X-Men First Class Will Feature The Hellfire Club

Over the past few weeks, fans of the X-Men franchise have been sitting on pins and needles waiting for details regarding the plot to the prequel First Class. The recent influx of casting changes including the addition of January Jones as Emma Frost and Zoe Kravitz as Angel (Salvadore?) has taken people for a loop. Over at AICN, they were able to set the record straight with an interview from producer Bryan Singer who not only clarified the film’s story but also Kevin Bacon’s role as the villain.

The setting of First Class will be the 1960s, a time when the country was bursting with the counter culture revolution, the Civil Rights Movement, and in this case, the increasing presence of mutants. We’ll get to see how “Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr met – and how they dreamt of a future with Mutant & Human kind. They’re going to be in their late twenties. Xavier – as played by James McAvoy will not be in his wheelchair to begin the film – but we will see how he wound up in a wheelchair.”

Jones and Bacon will play Emma Frost and Sebastian Shaw and yes, they’ll be bringing the Hellfire Club with them. The overall theme will be very vintage and nowhere near as modern looking as the other X-Men films, something that they’ll be able to get away with because of the time period. The costumes “will be far more comic bookish than we’ve seen before.”

As for the characters, we won’t be seeing Scott (Cyclops) or Jean (Marvel Girl) around but Scott’s younger brother Havoc will be on board. The shoot is scheduled to begin on August 31st and it will have an international feel to it.

“They’ll be shooting in England & the United States – and they’ll be representing other locales around the globe as well, but would only tell me that Russia (aka The Soviet Union… CCCP) will be amongst them”

Overall, Singer says that First Class will be to X-Men what Casino Royale was to James Bond. I don’t have a personal investment in this film but for those of you who do, what do you think of all this? Can you imagine the early X-Men without Scott and Jean?

X-Men First Class: Kevin Bacon Confirmed, Jennifer Lawrence is Mystique

Two more castings have been confirmed for 20th Century Fox’s upcoming comic spin-off X-Men: First Class. The main villain will be played by the previously rumored Kevin Bacon and Winter’s Bone star Jennifer Lawrence has also landed a prime role as Mystique, the blue, scaly-skinned mutant who was previously portrayed by Rebecca Romijn in the original trilogy.

According to THR, Fox has finalized their deal with Bacon to play the big bad in the film, yet they still REFUSE to confirm his character. The biggest name being thrown around is Mr. Sinister but he looks too small for that character. Maybe the studio will make an official announcement during Comic-Con this year to reveal their master plan for the film?

One thing we know for sure is that Lawrence will play Mystique, whom is an interesting character to bring on board at this point in X-Men lore. So far, the cast for the film includes James McAvoy as Professor Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Hank McCoy (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy (Banshee), and Lucas Till as Havok.

We still don’t have a Cyclops, Angel, Iceman, or Jean Grey. Where are the casting team’s priorities right now?

The film is directed by Matthew Vaughn and is scheduled to hit theaters on June 3, 2011.
