It’s official, the next few years belong to Marvel. Iron Man 2 kicks off comic-book mania next month, followed by Thor in early 2011, then Captain America and The Avengers. Since we’ve heard so much about Iron Man 2, Thor director Kenneth Branagh decided to open up to the LA Times about where his film is at in regards to production and what we can expect to see in theaters.

Over at Spoiler TV, they’ve gotten a hold of the latest casting notice from the Kenneth Branagh film, Thor. So far, we know the lead roles will feature Chris Hemsworth as the title character, Tom Hiddleston as his arch enemy Loki, and Natalie Portman as Thor’s love interest Jane Foster. This latest announcement seems geared towards a few supporting characters including a group of warriors and a college student.

Here’s a bit of ironic casting. According to ComingSoon, Stellan Skarsgard has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh‘s live action adaptation of Thor. If you’ve been following the film’s progress, you know that the actor’s son Alexander was rumored to star as the title character in the film. He was unfortunately beat out by native Aussie, Chris Hemsworth, so this is going to be awkward.

Yeap! After much debate the lovely and talented Natalie Portman has been cast as the female lead in Kenneth Branagh‘s upcoming comic book film Thor. Portman will be joining Chris Hemsworth who has already cast as Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain of the film, Loki, the god of mischief.
According to THR Portman will be playing the role of Thor’s first love, Jane Foster, who in early comic book lore was a nurse, although it has been said that the character will be “updated for the feature adaptation.” Which probably means she’ll be a sexy, seductive nurse instead of just a regular one.

Is it true? Is Jessica Biel in negotiations to star in Kenneth Branagh’s new movie Thor? According to an unidentified source who spoke with Nuke The Fridge, these negotiations are in the works and Biel will join the cast already consisting of Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston, and Brian Blessed. Does adding Biel mean the rumor that Natalie Portman might join is out?
Not necessarily. According to the source Biel will be playing “the same female character from the animated Hulk vs Thor,” of which there were actually two. So Biel could play one, and Portman can play the other.
