Here’s a bit of ironic casting. According to ComingSoon, Stellan Skarsgard has joined the cast of Kenneth Branagh’s live action adaptation of Thor. If you’ve been following the film’s progress, you know that the actor’s son Alexander was rumored to star as the title character in the film. He was unfortunately beat out by native Aussie, Chris Hemsworth, so this is going to be awkward.

Yeap! After much debate the lovely and talented Natalie Portman has been cast as the female lead in Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming comic book film Thor. Portman will be joining Chris Hemsworth who has already cast as Thor and Tom Hiddleston who will play the villain of the film, Loki, the god of mischief.
According to THR Portman will be playing the role of Thor’s first love, Jane Foster, who in early comic book lore was a nurse, although it has been said that the character will be “updated for the feature adaptation.” Which probably means she’ll be a sexy, seductive nurse instead of just a regular one.

Is it true? Is Jessica Biel in negotiations to star in Kenneth Branagh’s new movie Thor? According to an unidentified source who spoke with Nuke The Fridge, these negotiations are in the works and Biel will join the cast already consisting of Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Tom Hiddleston, and Brian Blessed. Does adding Biel mean the rumor that Natalie Portman might join is out?
Not necessarily. According to the source Biel will be playing “the same female character from the animated Hulk vs Thor,” of which there were actually two. So Biel could play one, and Portman can play the other.

I’m so excited to see this movie on it’s way to theaters. This is where “pirate” radio. Director Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Love Actually) brings you another amazing film, with one of the best casts you could ever ask, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Bill Nighy, Rhys Ifans, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Gemma Arterton and more in The Boat That Rocked.

The New Valkyrie trailer has just been released and the BEST part about it is…. EDDIE IZZARD! That’s right. He made it into the trailer… two times! As does Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Kenneth Branagh. But all those were expected. We get to watch Izzard scream into Tom Cruise’s face. HOW EXCITING! From Executive Transvestite to German officer! I just got even more excited about this film.
I mean honestly. Having Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Kenneth Branagh as your supporting cast is amazing. Then you have Cruise to lay down the stunts. And you top it off with Eddie Izzard! I’m there! And the story doesn’t look half bad either. German’s trying to kill Hitler during WWII (I think we know how it ends), what a great story to tell!
Check out the new trailer below and let us know what you think!

Time for Superhero flick’s to have some dignity, a bit of class, a bit of DRAMA! That’s what are superheros have been missing, so why not change that? According to Variety, Kenneth Branagh, (who you may know from such films as Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet) will be directing the new Marvel Studios film, Thor. Seem like an unlikely pick for you too?
Well, scriptwriter Mark Protosevich told the Daily Herald last year that he saw the story of Thor in Biblical terms: “It’s going to be like a super hero origin story, but not one about a human gaining super powers, but of a god realizing his true potential. It’s the story of a Old Testament god who becomes a new Testament god.”
So it seems we have a bit of Shakespeare, a bit of the bible, and of course Thor:
