When we saw the second trailer for Pixar‘s Brave in February, it showed one scene and one scene only, giving a sense of the characters and some of the stakes. Pixar may be the zenith for animation these days, but with their summer film Brave, they’re shaking things up. For the first time in their twenty-plus year career, they’re finally making a film that has a woman as its lead. The first time we noticed Kelly Macdonald it was in Danny Boyle’s cult classic Trainspotting. She was one of the many up and comers to appear in the film including Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, and Kevin McKidd. These days she’s charming U.S. audiences with her role in HBO’s runaway hit “Boardwalk Empire.” Now that the first season is complete, she’s got some free time but she’ll stay busy by appearing in the final chapter of the Harry Potter saga: The Deathly Hallows: Part II.
