The live action adaptation of the popular anime Cowboy Bebop may have hit the skids. Actor Keanu Reeves is attached to star as the lead character Spike Spiegel in the film, and he recently spoke to MTV about the development status of the script. When producing adaptations of any sort the remake is rarely better than the original, but that’s not the case with Cowboy Bebop. According to Reeves the current script is too good to be produced.

Our favorite stoic actor, Keanu Reeves has bravely gone where few people would ever want to go. I’m not talking about the Matrix, I’m referring to jail. According to the Associated Press, Reeves recently entered two jail facilities located in Buffalo, New York. Interestingly enough, the actor was given access to the building that the federal government has been denied. What’s up with that?

Keanu Reeves will pull double duty for his upcoming film according to Variety. Henry’s Crime is the actor’s next project of choice, and it will be a romantic comedy. Reeves will co-star and co-produce the film as the first feature on his Company Films banner alongside Stephen Hamel. We previously reported on the production of Henry’s Crime last fall, and we’ve got some more development updates to add to the story.

Keanu Reeves has been a busy bee this year. He’s been cast in several films over the past few months and he’s got another one to add to the list. According to THR, Reeves will star in Jekyll. Based off of the classic novel, “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” The film’s screenplay was written by Justin Haythe, who also penned the script to last year’s critically acclaimed Revolutionary Road.

There has been a lot of positive buzz surrounding the documentary film entitled Anvil! The Story of Anvil. I have yet to see the movie but I am anxious to see what all the fuss is about. Anvil is directed by the band’s former roadie, Sacha Gervasi who got his big break in Hollywood by writing the screenplay for the Tom Hanks vehicle, The Terminal. Now five years later he’s directed a critically acclaimed piece and is getting offers thrown at him left and right. Gervasi does have his next scripted project in order, and already has actor Keanu Reeves on tap to star as the lead.

Last week, Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, and Director Scott Derrickson sat down and talked about the upcoming Sci-Fi remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, in theaters this weekend. Scott Derrickson lead the way for the most part, taking on any of the possibly “sticky” questions. Jennifer Connelly was sweet and stunning, and was the only actor taking the day seriously. Jon Hamm seemed to know that his character had a smaller role in the film (should have been bigger) and wasn’t afraid to joke about it. As I have already stated in an earlier post, Keanu Reeves is my new favorite actor because of this press conference. He has some of the best answers you could possibly hope for.
Here is what they have to say about The Day the Earth Stood Still…

This was one of my favorite press conferences of all time. The one thing about doing interviews, is that normally people want to talk about what they have done. You give them a chance and they’ll go on and on about it, which is great because that’s what we’re looking for. Keanu Reeves is a man of very few words, but when he speaks he’s brilliant.
I got the impression from Keanu that he really doesn’t give a fuck about what he says or how he’s perceived. Hell, he’s Keanu Reeves! The press hounds him, he has received less than great reviews on some (many) of his performances, and yet he has continued to work steadily for two decades in one of the most cut-throat industries and is one of the highest paid actors of all time. So yeah I kind of agree with his, ‘you can all go fuck yourselves I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing’ demeanor. At least the man is consistent!
To add to that, he gave one of my all time favorite answers to a question. Often at a press conference you get some pointless questions, but rarely do you get such a great retort.

It’s the planet or mankind. Someones gotta go. AWESOME. For those of you living under a rock, this film is a remake of the 1951 classic. Although this one’s special effects will completely outdo the older films, it’s always worth watching a classic before the remake. The films stars Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly, and Kathy Bates. I LOVE that they went with Kathy Bates for this role. It’s like they wanted real actors or something.
Check out the new trailer for the film below the jump…
