Get ready for an an award winning film. First time director Tom Ford’s film A Single Man is a refreshing reminder of what going to the theaters should be like. Surprising, heart-warming, depressing, thought-provoking and above all interesting. The film is as beautiful on the surface as it is touching at its core. Not to be confused with the Cohen Brother’s A Serious Man (which is a very different, and good film), A Single Man is a story about a teacher in the 60’s who loses his lover in an accident and is left in a world that he no longer wishes to be a part of. I’m not judging because neither do I, but let me give you a little background. Ford is a noted fashion designer best known for his work as the creative director of the Gucci brand. Do you see any physical resemblance between Bill Clinton and Dennis Quaid? I don’t, but the executives at HBO do. According to Variety, Quaid will star as Clinton in a TV special for the cable network. The film is entitled A Special Relationship and will cover “the unique and sometimes turbulent political relationship between the newly installed PM and the U.S. president.” By PM they mean the British Prime Minister Tony Blair who will be played by Michael Sheen (no surprise there).

THR is saying that Ginnifer Goodwin (“Big Love”) and Nicholas Hoult (About a Boy) have both signed onto A Single Man. an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood’s 1964 novel. They will be joining fellow cast member Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, and Matthew Goode.
The story is about an English professor who, after the sudden death of his partner tries to go about his typical day in Los Angeles. Tom Ford will be directing that film with helped to adapt along with writer David Scearce.
