We’ve known for a while that Universal is planning a prequel/spin-off to their highly successful Jason Bourne franchise, but they’ve yet to find an actor to play the lead. According to several sources, director and screenwriter Tony Gilroy has cast a very wide net on potential candidates for the primary role in The Bourne Legacy. At first glance the title Bunraku might sound like the latest Japanese anime to hit the streets but it’s not. It’s a live action film from writer-director Guy Moshe that stars Josh Hartnett, Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson, and Ron Perlman. Bunraku is one of the many films that will be screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, which is why the first official photos from the movie have been released. Where has Josh Hartnett been hiding? The actor has starred in several films in the past few years, but none of them have been anywhere near as big as Black Hawk Down or dare I say it…Pearl Harbor? According to Variety, the actor has signed on to star in an upcoming futuristic western entitled Gunslinger. The film will be directed by Chris Nahon, who previously helmed Blood: The Last Vampire.

The latest casting buzz surrounding Marvel’s individual Avenger’s properties has slowly moved from the Iron Man sequel over to Thor. In the past few weeks we’ve heard speculation regarding who will play the title role, as well as the main villain in the film. Some of the names that have been thrown around for Thor range from Kevin McKidd (Trainspotting, Grey’s Anatomy) to Alexander Skarsgard (HBO’s True Blood). Josh Hartnett has been rumored to play the film’s villain Loki ,the brother of Thor who is the self-proclaimed God of Evil. With Hartnett’s possible involvement already throwing me for a loop, I just got wind of an even weirder casting development. Ms. Natalie Portman may be in the running to star in the film as well!
