In an attempt to show how edgy and hip the Academy Awards can really be, the Academy decided to hire the clever folks at Funny or Die to make a trailer for the 84th Academy Awards ceremony. And, despite being jam-packed with cameos by celebrities no one will really care about (host Billy Crystal, Robin Williams, Josh Duhamel, Megan Fox, William Fichtner, and Vinnie Jones) and loaded with horridly unfunny jokes (young people text a lot! HA!), the trailer–gosh, get this!–lands flat on its face.

After the second film – which star Shia LaBeouf and director Michael Bay have publicly apologized for -there was hope that Transformers: Dark of the Moon would settle Michael Bay down, and give him a better story to tell. Working with 3-D, his hyper-editing style wouldn’t work in the format, and there would be no “afterthought” Imax scenes. There would also be no writer’s strike, so the script could be written in a more timely and coherent fashion. And though Michael Bay does action on a scale that is unmatached in the industry, it’s pretty much the same movie, except this time on Ritalin. Find out more below…

This weekend Katherine Heigl adds another notch to her romantic comedy belt – and, shockingly, people (chicks) over the age of 16 might actually enjoy it. Life As We Know It, also starring Josh Duhamel, follows the disaster of two single adults becoming guardians to the daughter of their mutual, recently deceased best friends. The Warner Bros. release is directed by Greg Berlanti and opens in theaters nationwide this Friday.

The decision to make Transformers a live action trilogy was set in stone after the success of the first film, so we’re not surprised that the third movie is on its way. What is shocking are the casting decisions being made by director Michael Bay and Paramount.
