Sorry for posting this a bit late. Between wandering around in the snow, getting lost on the shuttles, and seeing as many movies as possible, I didn’t get a chance to post this and it’s a shame because this is one of the coolest things I’ve found at Sundance so far. If there were ever a chance for a young, never heard before filmmaker to get into Sundance for the first time, this is it.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been a talented actor for some time, but this time at the festival he wants to do more than just promote his films, he wants to help young filmmakers make films and participate in Sundance. Joseph began a new kind of production company out of his love for technology and art.

In the midst of all the meaningful Sundance films, sometimes you just want to watch a guy with a tattoo of a stick figure blowing its head off, making rude jokes about raping grannies. There is nothing life changing about Hesher, it’s pretty basic in a lot of ways and the plot is somewhat predictable, but it’s a really fun ride filled with extremely colorful characters.

It’s always fun to have a trailer for a movie you knew nothing about pleasantly surprise you at 7 in the morning. I just stumbled across a new trailer for Uncertainty, a film by directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lynn Collins, with Olivia Thirlby. It sounds like the film has been done for some time and looking for distribution. Maybe the casts recent successes have helped move the process along. The film will be released in limited theaters as well as a VOD release on November 13, 2009.
There is definitely a lot going on in this trailer, so trying to classify it or explain it to you is a bit tricky.

The promotion for Women in Trouble has been a little too under the radar for my taste. We’ve barely seen a trailer or even a teaser promoting the movie, which is doing it a real disservice. It stars Carla Gugino as a porn star named Elektra Luxx, in the film directed by Sebastian Gutierrez. If you think these two are a great combo, you should check out the rest of the extensive cast.

For all of you who loved 500 Days of Summer and to encourage those of you who haven’t seen it to get out there and enjoy the film, here comes a lovely little companion piece to the movie. Marc Webb, the director of the film started his career by making music videos and after his first successful film he has decided to play around with his actors Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon Levitt, and make a music video for Deschanel’s song “Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?” by her band She & Him. Much like the Sid and Nancy skit by the trio, the video adds to the film, without spoiling it or having direct references to it. The video also confirms something that Deschanel told us, which is that Levitt really can do back flips.

Paramount Pictures have released a video of G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra director Stephen Sommers in Paris discussing his upcoming film. The featurette shows the director talking about one of the pivotal action sequences of the movie (the accelerator suit chase scene), which has been getting a lot of buzz around the internet. In the chase, Duke (Channing Tatum) and Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) get dressed in these automated suits that allow them to run faster, jump higher and even withstand being hit by a car, or three.
