How much testosterone does one film need? The casting for the big screen adaptation of John Carter of Mars is starting to remind me of 300 from a few years back. The cast of John Carter is led by Taylor Kitsch in the title role, with Willem Dafoe on board as his right hand man, and according to THR, James Purefoy, Thomas Hayden Church, and Mark Strong have all signed on to co-star.

The live action adaptation of John Carter of Mars will soon begin production, and co-star Lynn Collins recently revealed some of the prep work that’s gone into the film. In a one on one interview with MTV, the actress discussed the look that her “alien princess” character will have in the movie, and whether or not she will be involved in any heavy fight scenes.

The sci-fi epic John Carter of Mars just infused three more talented actors into it’s casting pool. Today must be a good day for HBO alumni because Dominic West, Polly Walker, and Samantha Morton have all signed on to star in John Carter. The film will be produced by Disney, and directed by Wall-E’s Andrew Stanton. More on the actors and their roles below.

I can honestly say I didn’t see this coming. For a while now we’ve been reporting on the film adaptation of the sci-fi book series John Carter of Mars. Wall-E director Andrew Stanton will helm the feature for Disney, based on the stories written by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The two lead characters, John and Dejah have been cast and they’re none other than Wolverine alum’s Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins!
