Over the past few months all superhero news has centered on Iron Man 2 and Thor, but we’ve finally got an update regarding the leader of the Avengers team, Captain America. The film will be directed by Wolfman helmer, Joe Johnston and will be an adaptation of the popular Marvel comic of the same name. Over at Fangoria, they managed to get some dirt on when the film will begin production, and it’s a lot sooner than many of us thought.

Be warned, it’s intended for French audiences (hence the subtitles) but have no fear, the entire trailer is in English. On top of that, there are a few scenes that include footage we haven’t seen from the previous videos.

Oh Wolf Man, what will your fate be? At the moment it seems to be undetermined. People don’t know whether to love you or loath you. I guess that’s why Universal decided it’s time for a new, action-packed, sexy, trailer for Joe Johnston‘s upcoming action thriller The Wolf Man starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving, and Art Malik. They’ve definitely cut out the haunting, subtle feel that the first trailer had and went for a much more in your face action trailer. I’m guessing this one is aimed at all the teens out their they’re hoping to rope in.

What a morning for trailers! The Wolfman is now online, just after the first Avatar was released. We’ve all been waiting for the first look at Joe Johnston’s film starring Benicio del Toro, Anthony Hopkins, Emily Blunt, and Hugo Weaving and now it’s finally here.

A little something to take with you into the trailer…

Even a man who is pure of heart

May become a wolf
When the wolfsbane blooms
And the autumn moon is bright.

5 New Wolf Man Photos

Even though its release date has been pushed back several times, the updated Wolf Man film continues to put out promotional material. Over at Bloody Disgusting, a few new photos have been released and they feature stars Benicio del Toro and Emily Blunt in action. They mostly show del Toro in his “man state” as opposed to his werewolf counterpart, but it’s better than nothing.

There have been rumors/news of re-shoots on the set of Joe Johnston‘s The Wolfman for some time now, but nobody knew what or why they were re-shooting. A total of six weeks to be exact. According to Baz Bamigboye, the “Wolfman” was not quite up to par, as “the Wolf was on its heels and it looked daft.” They are reshooting the scenes with the newly beefed up Wolfman. In one of the more highly anticipated movie waits for a Super Hero flick in sometime, Captain America now officially has a director. IESB is reporting that Joe Johnston has signed a deal to be at the top of the flick, which is set to come out in theaters on May 6th, 2011. The site is also reporting that actual writers for the movie should be inked shortly.

The official name of the movie is: “First Avenger: Captain America,” and will be the Marvel Studios version look at the classic comic book hero. Johnston first talked to Marvel about two years ago, and then the two sides eventually met about the actual Captain America project, and it was decided he was best to take on the role of director.
