Jeffrey Dean Morgan Cast in Dibbuk Box

The Losers and Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan has signed on to appear in a horror-thriller called Dibbuk Box. What does that mean exactly? Well, depending on who you are and what you believe, it’s an evil spirit that inhabits a human being, controls its body, and its behavior. Unfortunately, for us Morgan won’t be host of choice for the demon.

According to Variety, “Morgan will star as a recently divorced father whose youngest daughter becomes strangely connected to an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. As his daughter’s behavior becomes more erratic, the father senses a dark presence building until he discovers that the box was built to contain a dibbuk — a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.”

If the movie reminds you of Drag Me to Hell it should, because it will be produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate and is looking to hit theaters on October 28 just in time for Halloween. The studio is obviously trying to find a horror film that can occupy that slot now that the Saw franchise has come to an end, but we’re not sure if this will do the trick.

First Cast Photo From Red Dawn Remake With Chris Hemsworth

The Red Dawn remake is one of those films that are out of sight, out of mind. Unless you’ve been following it feverishly you don’t really care that it exists. The movie stars a young and attractive cast of up and comers including Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth and fellow Aussie Isabel Lucas. “Friday Night Lights” Adrianne Palicki, as well as Josh Hutcherson and Connor Cruise (as in Tom’s son) are just some of the notables. The first cast photo for the movie popped up over on The Daily Blam, and we have to admit, it leaves much to be desired.

The original Red Dawn starred Patrick Swayze, Charlie Sheen, and Jennifer Grey as members of a rag tag group (nicknamed The Wolverines) whose town is invaded by Russian forces. In the remake, the Russians won’t be coming, but the Chinese will take their place. The movie experienced a delay last summer after MGM hit another financial roadblock, then some script excerpts were leaked, which Chinese officials deemed as offensive.

We’re assuming that the above photo is a random promotional shot. Jeffrey Dean Morgan also stars in the movie, yet he’s nowhere to be found here. What’s up with that?

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is The Courier – Kicking Ass One Package At a Time

Brace yourselves for another action film starring the tall, dark, and scruffy Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The last time we saw him on the big screen it was in Warner Bros’ The Losers and according to Deadline he’s just signed on to star in another ass-kicking flick. It’s called The Courier, and it centers on the dangerous lifestyle of the average messenger — not!

According to the site, Morgan will star as the title character and executive produce the film which will be directed by Paradise Now helmer Hany Abu-Assad. The script was written by 3:10 to Yuma scribes Derek Haas and Michael Brandt and the story centers on “a courier who has taken on improbable missions and never missed a drop. He’s hired to deliver a briefcase to a notorious underworld figure that can’t be found. The courier finds himself pursued by corrupt cops, double-crossing feds and rival crime bosses.”

Do you guys smell that (*sniff, sniff)? It smells like The Transporter and there’s no Jason Statham in sight. If this film had any other actor in it besides Morgan, the premise would be a serious turn off because it’s been done to death.

Morgan’s just wrapped production on The Fields with Sam Worthington, and will shoot the Bruce Beresford film Peace, Love and Misunderstanding before he takes on The Courier.

Earlier today we brought you five TV spots for the upcoming Sylvain White film The Losers, the live action adaptation of the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name. If you thought the high octane action in those clips was too hot to handle we’re about to pour salt in your wound by posting 28 HQ photos from the movie. Some of them are screencaps taken directly from the trailer and others are production stills from behind the scenes. Check them out…

The Losers are a special black-ops team who are masters of their crafts. In their own units, each one of them at some point or another lost a soldier under their command, hence they dubbed themselves “The Losers.” After a mishap, The Losers are framed and sentenced to be taken out. Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays Sargent Clay, Idris Elba is Roque, Chris Evans is Jensen, Columbus Short is Pooch, Zoe Saldana is Aisha, and Oscar Jaenada is Cougar.

In the following photos we get to see each character in their element. The majority of them are holding some type of weapon whether it be a gun, a missile launcher, or a suped up crossbow. It looks like the director pulls off a lot of outlandish stuff in this film and we’re not just talking about the stunts. We’re referring to the casting of Chris Evans as a tech nerd who’s supposed to be the least attractive guy out of the bunch (rolls eyes). Come on guys? Really?

The Losers Character Banners

The Losers will blast their way into theaters this spring and Warner Bros has just released six character banners featuring each of the film’s main characters. We’re talking Jeffery Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Chris Evans, Idris Elba, and Oscar Jaenada. The film is directed by Sylvain White and is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, 2010.

The Losers are a special black-ops team whose members originated from several different branches of the military. In their own units, each one of them at some point or another lost a soldier under their command, hence they dubbed themselves “The Losers.” Morgan plays Sargent Clay, Elba is Roque, Evans is Jensen, Short is Pooch, Saldana is Aisha, and Oscar Jaenada is Cougar.

Is it just me or do these banners look like they were taken straight from the comic? This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, Saldana looks like she’s kicking ass and taking names. The direct comic book approach seems to be the trend with adaptations this year like with Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World where the trailer actually features words like “Kapow” flashing across the screen. I’m sure The Losers will take itself a little more serious but it could still work.

New Photos of The Losers

Six new photos have been released for the upcoming Warner Bros film, The Losers. It’s a live action adaptation of The DC/Vertigo comic of the same name and features an all star cast of badasses. As you can tell from the above photo, they’re not just pissed at the world, they’re also pissed at each other. The Losers is directed by Sylvain White, and stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan as the leader of a rag tag crew of military trained vigilanties.

The Losers are a special black-ops team whose members originated from several different branches of the military. In their own units, each one of them at some point or another lost a soldier under their command, hence they dubbed themselves “The Losers.” Morgan plays Sargent Clay, Idris Elba is Roque, Chris Evans is Jensen, Columbus Short is Pooch, Zoe Saldana is Aisha, and Oscar Jaenada is Cougar.

In the latest photos from the film, we see Morgan and Saldana getting too close for comfort, while Clay struggles to stay alive in the presence of Elba. Evans tries his hand at using a crossbow, while Saldana’s Aisha uses a heavy automatic gun as her weapon of choice. The Losers is scheduled to hit theaters on April 23, 2010.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins The Texas Killing Fields

The cast for the upcoming drama, The Texas Killing Fields continues to grow with the help of Watchmen star Jeffrey Dean Morgan. It was recently confirmed that Sam Worthington will appear as one of the main characters in the film that centers on multiple unsolved murders. Rumor had it that Bradley Cooper would be his partner of choice, but Morgan has taken that spot instead.

Over at Bloody Disgusting they’re reporting that Morgan is the latest actor to join The Texas Killing Fields, a film that will be produced by Michael Mann. Back in November, we reported that Worthington and Cooper were both in the running to star in the film and at the time there was word that Danny Boyle might be interested in directing, but he has since decided to focus on another project, 127 Hours.

Worthington will play a Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous. Morgan will play the native New Yorker in question and even though Bradley Cooper is a decent actor, this role seems like a better fit for Morgan. He has the scruffy looks, raspy voice, and the intimidating height that lets you know he means business.

The Texas Killing Fields will be helmed by by Ami Canaan Mann, and it will mark her directorial debut. Production starts this April in Louisiana.

Finally, we have a couple of official photos from the live action adaptation of The Losers. The film is based off the comic of the same name that was created by Andy Diggle and Jock. The cast includes Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana, Idris Elba, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, and Óscar Jaenada.

Here’s the film’s synopsis:

An explosive tale of double cross and revenge, “The Losers” centers upon the members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team–Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar–find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they’re joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

Isn’t it interesting how they’ve managed to make Chris Evans look somewhat nerdy in the top group photo? It’s definitely not working because even with the glasses he still looks attractive, nice try though. The Losers is scheduled to hit theaters on April 9, 2010 and is directed by Sylvain White.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Creepy Photos From The Resident

A while ago, we reported that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would star in a thriller entitled The Resident, where he would play the part of a sleazy landlord. Over at ShockTillYouDrop, they’ve released two official photos from the film and his character is a lot creepier than we initially thought.

Take a look at Morgan in The Resident…

The Resident centers on a young doctor (Hilary Swank) who moves into an apartment building, in which Morgan is her landlord. Unfortunately, he’s a psycho who has developed a serious obsession with her and the two engage in ”a terrifying game of cat and mouse.”

This will be the second time Morgan has starred opposite Swank, since their 2007 film, P.S. I Love You. As you can see from one of the photos, legendary actor Christopher Lee is also featured in the film as Morgan’s grandfather.

The Resident is directed by Antii Jokinen, and will be released in theaters sometime next year.

We’re sure you’ve seen a few behind the scenes set photos from the upcoming comic adaptation, The Losers. A profile here, a back shot there, but have you seen the entire cast as a whole? Have you ever gotten the stare of death from Idris Elba, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Chris Evans, Columbus Short, and Oscar Jaenada? You’re in luck because we’ve got a photo showing them doing just that. On Elba’s official Twitter he posted a photo of himself and a few of his co-stars together while on location.

Don’t get me wrong, I love all this “manjoyment,” but where’s Zoe Saldana? She’s in this film as well. She stars as Aisha, but she’s nowhere in this shot. Maybe she wasn’t on set that day?

The Losers hits theaters on April 9, 2010, and is currently in production. The film is directed by Sylvain White, with a script written by Peter Berg.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Wants Lobo, Cast in Red Dawn

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is starting to get drunk with comic book power. The actor already starred as The Comedian in this year’s Watchmen, he’s currently shooting a role in The Losers, and now he wants in on Guy Ritchie‘s Lobo? According to Superherohype, the actor is interested in playing the lead role in the recently announced Warner Bros production. Has he been bitten by the same bug as Ryan Reynolds? How many superheroes can he play?

According to Morgan,”They’re making ‘Lobo’ right now,” offered JDM, “That would be cool. ‘Lobo’ would be very cool. I don’t think that I’m as big as Lobo is, but if you could, like, transplant Mickey Rourke’s body on my head, that would be just great.”

With this type of interest being thrown around, the actor knows people might begin to think he’s obsessed with comic based material.

“You’re always looking for material that’s kind of smart and fun and this seems to be where it is right now,” says the actor in regards to his interest in so many comic book properties, “The studios are really gravitating towards it, more than I’ve ever seen them gravitate towards anything in a long time. Comic books are really the thing right now and I don’t see that going away for at least the next couple of years.”

We’re still waiting on some new info regarding his live action adaptation of The Losers, which is based on the DC/Vertigo comic of the same name. We’ll have more info on that project as it becomes available. Isn’t there a cardinal rule about playing various superhero characters, or does that only count if their really iconic? For example you couldn’t have Christopher Reeve playing the Green Lantern because we already saw him as Superman.

On another note, the actor has landed a part in the upcoming remake of the eighties cult film, Red Dawn. According to EW, Morgan is in talks to play Lt. Andrew Tanner, a role originated by Powers Boothe. He’ll star alongside Chris Hemsworth and Josh Peck in the film that’s already begun production, while he’s still on the set of The Losers. Somebody is a busy bee and I think it’s Mr. Morgan.

Holt McCallany joins The Losers

Stomp the Yard director Sylvain White has added actor Holt McCallany to his next project, The Losers, an adaptation of the Vertigo comic series. The “Losers” include Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Losers’ leader), Idris Elba (Roque), Chris Evans (Jensen), Jason Patric (Max – the good guy who goes bad), Óscar Jaenada (Cougar), Columbus Short (Pooch) and of course we need some estrogen in there so we have Zoe Saldana (Aisha).

As if the cast wasn’t enough, this isn’t your typical heroic film where the good guys go against the bad guys, but how the good guys can turn evil for the right reasons. The story goes that a Special Forces team from the CIA are betrayed by their handler Max (Patric), and left for dead following the conclusion of their operation. The Losers then plot for revenge against Max.

It’s unclear how McCallany turns into a bad-buy yet. Perhaps he ends up working for Patric? Who knows?

It’s hard to imagine Patric as the bad guy, he just doesn’t look like one, as much as McCallany who has that strong “bad guy” look down. But nonetheless, the cast is strong and the plot is intriguing, so it’s all in the hands of White to make this thriller work with his “stomping” background.

Matrix producer Joel Silver has also jumped on board with The Losers, and the film is set for release next April.
