LFF: Up in the Air First Look

upintheairkj09 09 08 LFF: Up in the Air First Look

Just walked out of an LFF screening for Up in the Air and had the feeling of “finally.” The film stars George Clooney, Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, and Jason Bateman, in a story about a guy who travels around the US firing people and becoming a master traveler.

Overall the film used ideas that we had seen before, but in a new and fresh way. There was the guy that travels and refuses to settle down, a young plucky employee shoving out the “old guy”, and a problem that must be solved. The ending you could see a mile away, but the feelings that came with it was not what you would expect. In a way Jason Reitman the director/writer found a new way to use cliches, making them a new form of non-cliche-cliches. To top that off, he finally gives a good reason for a man running through at airport to get to a woman, so for that I thank him.

Picture 152 Up in the Air Theatrical Trailer and New Release Date

Check out the first feature length trailer for Up in the Air a new film by Director Jason Reitman, starring George Clooney, alongside Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick, Jason Bateman, Danny McBride, and Zach Galifianakis. Although the film sounds like it could be a laugh out loud comedy, it looks more along the lines of Garden State or Reitman’s last film Juno; more of a subtle comedy with real life, albeit odd people.

However you want to classify it, the new trailer looks amazing, check it out below…

upintheairkj09 09 08 Teaser Clip from Jason Reitmans Up in the Air

The latest film by Juno director Jason Reitman, Up in the Air, has been creating buzz as serious competitor for an Oscar, (although at the moment The Hurt Locker seems to be the other film which is Oscar worthy). The movie is about a Ryan Bingham, George Clooney, a man who travels around helping corporations with downsizing. While on a job, he meets another seasoned traveler, Alex (Vera Farmiga) in a hotel bar.

In the clip, Clooney’s characters meets Farmiga’s for the first time. They bond over being road warriors, comparing each others credit cards and the mileage plans. Of course there is a little friendly banter, flirting, and George Clooney being his normal charming self.

jennifersbody09 7 8 Comic Con 09: Jennifers Body Interview with Megan Fox, Diablo Cody...

Yet another press conference we attended at Comic-Con was for director Karyn Kusama’s upcoming horror film written by Oscar winner Diablo Cody, Jennifer’s Body starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried. Kusama, Cody, Fox, and producer Jason Reitman were all in attendance and eager to promote their zany new film. Fox admits to not being a horror film fan, in fact the last horror film she saw was in 2001 and while having to do ADR for this film she managed to scare herself. Cody on the other hand seems to be proud on her jump from Academy Award winner to over the top horror film writer and doesn’t seem to be scared away by much of anything.

Check out the interview below…

The feature film adaptation of  Walter Kirn’s novel, Up in the Air has become the tale of two Jason’s. According to Variety, Jason Reitman is attached to direct the Dreamworks film about “a corporate downsizer who is obsessed with collecting frequent flyer miles at the expense of having a life.” This no life having downsizer will be played by none other than George Clooney, with Jason Bateman co-starring as his boss.

cody Diablo Cody to Produce Breathers

Academy Award winning screenwriter Diablo Cody has got a new project on the horizon, and I’m not talking about the Megan Fox movie, Jennifer’s Body. According to /Film, Cody wont be writing, but instead producing the adaptation of Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament.  The screenwriter on call for this film is Geoff LaTulippe, a relative unknown who has been a studio script reader for years. He recently sold a spec script entitled Going the Distance, but it looks as if this will be the writers first big break.
