How much testosterone does one film need? The casting for the big screen adaptation of John Carter of Mars is starting to remind me of 300 from a few years back. The cast of John Carter is led by Taylor Kitsch in the title role, with Willem Dafoe on board as his right hand man, and according to THR, James Purefoy, Thomas Hayden Church, and Mark Strong have all signed on to co-star.

Oscar nominated actor Paul Giamatti has been cast in a new film of epic proportions entitled, Ironclad. According to Variety, the actor will star as a tyrant king in the film, which will be set in medieval times. The period drama will pit Giamatti against Solomon Kane star James Purefoy, while treachery, suffering and violence will ensue in the film directed by Jonathan English.

We haven’t heard much about the live action adaptation of Solomon Kane. There was a panel held at this year’s Comic-Con for the anti-hero but that’s about it. Today out of the blue some official photos from the film have been released, and the general public can finally get a glimpse of James Purefoy as the title character.
