Well, since they both feature a disembodied genie head, talking armchair, terrorism in Chicago, a mad bomber, magic screens, and a green pterodactyl sidekick (actually, I can’t swear to that), Pee Wee Herman and Jake Gyllenhaal decided to film a couple of quick videos explaining the film and Broadway show, respectively.
Visionary director Duncan Jones is back with Source Code a film that maintains the intellect and sophistication of his first work Moon, but this time with whole lot more punch. His latest film somehow manages to appeal to mainstream audiences with pace, action and effects, without losing the details, story and character development that we loved in Moon. Truly it’s the best of both. A number of directors fumble on their second films after having their first film have such an impact. Many people questioned Jones but any doubts that you might have are blown away by the time you’re finished with the opening sequence of Source Code.

We’ve known for a while that Universal is planning a prequel/spin-off to their highly successful Jason Bourne franchise, but they’ve yet to find an actor to play the lead. Despite my inherent tendency for unrelenting cynicism I hold a tiny place in my heart for solid rom-coms. Supporters of the genre should be pleased with Ed Zwick’s latest picture, Love And Other Drugs, and it’s possible he’ll sufficiently peak the interest of my fellow cynics. Starring the always pleasant Anne Hathaway and a swoon-worthy Jake Gyllenhaal, this unconventional tale of love in it’s various forms opens nationwide this Wednesday.
