Are you still in denial over Jon Favreau not directing Iron Man 3? If so, you should really let it go because Paramount and Marvel are moving ahead with their decision to find another helmer for the sequel. According to THR, the studio is courting Shane Black to not only direct but write the screenplay for the film. How do you feel about that?
Tuesday afternoon comic fans everywhere were hit with a serious blow. Jon Favreau announced that he won’t return to direct Iron Man 3, but will take on The Magic Kingdom for Disney instead. This came as a shock because he’s been behind the Iron Man machine from the very beginning and for the for him to leave this late in the game for another project just seems weird. Over at the Hero Complex, they got the opportunity to speak to Favreau about the logic behind his decision…
Update: Favreau just confirmed his departure via his Twitter account. He wrote, “It’s true, I’m directing Magic Kingdom, not Iron Man 3. I’ve had a great run with Marvel and wish them the best.”
Marvel has been under the Disney umbrella for a while now, but most of its properties are still licensed out to other studios such as X-Men, Spider-Man, and Ghost Rider to name a few. Today, the House of Mouse sent out a press release announcing their plan to distribute two of Marvel’s most popular titles, Iron Man 3 and the highly anticipated The Avengers.
As kids, we all had fantasies of finding the right technology or chemical formula that would give us the same strength and power of our favorite comic book heroes. What if I told you it was out there? The folks over at Raytheon have made that dream come true for those who are fans of Marvel’s Iron Man. The hero is known for his tough body armor which multiplies his strength and allows him to take on high levels on impact. It’s summer in September this week as some of the bigger summer movies are making their home theater debut with the release of Get Him to the Greek and Iron Man 2. You can also enjoy a couple of smaller art house films and everybody’s favorite cuddly documentary when you pick up the DVD of Babies.
There’s also a smattering of TV on DVD (not the small screen onslaught we’ve experience the last few weeks) and one of the worst DVDs we’ve ever seen (wait until you see the title).

Don’t you hate it when trailers advertise footage that is nowhere in the actual film? It happens a lot, and last summer’s Iron Man 2 was no exception. Apparently, there was some footage taken from an alternate opening of the movie used in the trailer that never saw the light of day — until now. After seeing the heavy handed influence The Avengers had on this spring’s Iron Man 2 it looked like Tony Stark would be the anchor character to join all the new Marvel movies together. But director and producer Jon Favreau recently appeared on a local Los Angeles radio show to clear up any rumors regarding an Iron Man cameo in Captain America or Thor.
