depp rango3 1 11 Johnny Depp: How to Handle Bad Questions at a Press Conference

When you’re Johnny Depp, everyone wants to talk to you, about you, with you… and when sitting in front of certain members of the press, they want to dig a little too deep sometimes. One of the things that makes Johnny Depp who he is, is that not only does he not take issue with inappropriate or random questions, he actually takes it a step further and says something even more random in response. Normally he’ll bring it back at the end and give some kind of “real” answer but not without a bit of fun and a few statements that most celebs wouldn’t dare say. And why? He’s Johnny Depp, why not?

So now let’s take a look at a little piece I like to call “Fucking With The Press ” with some of my favorite ridiculous moments from the Rango press conference (read the more serious version here)…

Tiffany Shlain is the only director with two films at this year’s Sundance Film Festival: her short film, Yelp: With Apologies to Allen Ginsberg’s “Howl,” and her documentary Connected: An Autoblogography About Love, Death, and Technology.  The documentary begins as an exploration of the increasing connectivity among humans from the advent of written language to the rise of the internet, but takes a hard turn when her father, the inspiration for and collaborator on the film, is diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.  To find out more about the film and our response, and see footage of our interview with Ms. Shlain, check out the rest of the article after the jump…

No Strings Attached Natalie Portman Ashton Kutcher 20 1 11 kc Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher Talk No Strings Attached

Veteran director Ivan Reitman returns to the big screen this weekend with his latest film, No Strings Attached . It’s a non-romantic comedy about two friends, who decide to use each other for sex and nothing more. The film stars Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher as the unconventional couple, who act out some strange scenarios as their characters. We sat down and spoke with the duo about their latest feature, which centers heavily on casual sex. Despite all the debauchery they assure you that safe sex is the best sex, and at the end of the day, this movie is more about female empowerment than anything else.

malkovich lane10 4 10 Interview: Diane Lane and John Malkovich for Secretariat

This weekend in theaters Secretariat, the story about the horse that made the impossible happen hits the big screen with Diane Lane and John Malkovich leading the pack! The actors bring to life two of the most outrageous real life characters from the racing world during the 70′s — and they do so better than anyone else. Lane is both charming and fierce, so that you side with her and fight along with her when necessary. Malkovich once again makes acting crazy look easy — and this time he gets colorful hats to add to it!

Check out our interview with the couple from the Santa Anita press conference below…

Interview: Harald Zwart Talks The Karate Kid!

haradl zwart6 14 10 Interview: Harald Zwart Talks The Karate Kid!

With The Karate Kid opening number one this weekend Harald Zwart must be feeling pretty good about himself! The innocence and epic nature of the this remake seemed to be no match for the off-the-cuff comedic violence of The A-Team.

Zwart may be known in the US for The Pink Panther 2 and internationally for Long Flat Balls I and II, but he’s yearned for some time to do something less silly and humorous, and something more artistic and dare I say epic. He jumped at the chance to join the Smith family in “retelling” the classic story in a beautiful, new way.

Even before the release of the film, Zwart was confident that his film would be a success with viewers…

Interview: George A. Romero

George A. Romero Interview: George A. Romero

George Romero is the undisputed godfather of zombie movies, having invented the modern form with his ground-breaking Night of the Living Dead (1968) and expanded and refined the mythology through subsequent sequels Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985). His output has not been confined solely to zombie movies, though he has stuck almost exclusively to horror genres; amongst his greatest films are the vampire tale Martin (1977) and the malicious ape picture Monkey Shines (1988). But his biggest budget feature to date was a return to the zombie story, Land of the Dead (2005) for Universal, followed closely by a return to his roots with the low-budget Diary of the Dead (2007) and the now his latest, Survival of the Dead.

In this new film, a group of minor characters from Diary find themselves caught up in a family feud on an island off the coast of Delaware, and last week Romero came to town to have a little chat about it.

The Losers Zoe Saldana 25 11 09 kc Zoe Saldana: Bad Ass Chick Talks Losers and Avatar 2

Not too long ago we attended a press conference for The Losers where the lovely Zoe Saldana talked about what her life has been like with three huge action packed films back to back and what she would need in order to come back to Avatar 2. There’s no doubt that she has earned the title “bad-ass chick” between all of her amazing and aggressive performances that she’s put in with spaceships, a bow and arrow, and now a bazooka.

Below she talks about what her year (with a few small comments from Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has been like and why she loves being the only girl in an all male cast…

14 alice in wonderland Interview: Johnny Depp for Alice in Wonderland

After over 25 years in the entertainment business there’s nothing Johnny Depp hasn’t done. He’s played almost every role under the sun and he continues to stun audiences with his character choices. This weekend, he’ll star in what seems like his umpteenth Tim Burton production entitled, Alice in Wonderland. The actor plays The Mad Hatter, the highly unconventional, and topically crazy confidant of Alice.

When Depp appeared at the Alice in Wonderland press conference, his presence was very calming but in the back of your mind you knew there was a major star in the room. For someone who’s had his kind of career, he manages to come off as humble, sweet, and oddly funny in a way that only Depp can. He discussed his interest in The Mad Hatter as a tragic character, the evolution of his career, and whether or not he’d star in a motion capture film like Avatar. The actor is truly one of a kind and after seeing and hearing to him in person, you can tell his degree of success is a natural progression because he’s more than just a pretty face.
