Video: Jason Segel and Paul Rudd Meet Rush

Do you remember the bromantic comedy I Love You, Man from a couple years ago? The film starred Paul Rudd and Jason Segel and it features a lot of too close for comfort moments between the heterosexual buddies. The film wasn’t a monster hit at the box office but it had some fans, enough to warrant a sequel…or a sort of sequel. Rudd and Segel have joined forces with veteran musicians Rush for I Love You, Man: The After Show. Check it out…

In the video, Rudd and Segel reprise their roles as Peter and Sydney from I Love You Man and if you remember correctly, the duo has an unhealthy obsession with the band. As a matter of fact, their little obsession is one of the main things that drew them to one another.

Here we see them getting a little too comfortable in Rush’s dressing room after a concert. Sydney got the pair some fake passes, but Peter is none the wiser. They’re eventually confronted by the band, who promptly ask them to leave. But before it’s all said and done, Peter get’s a special gift from one of the members.

This sketch doesn’t touch the surface of hilarity that’s present in I Love You Man. If you haven’t seen the movie, a lot of the second hand language will come off as mumbo jumbo to you. Watch the film first to get the full impact.

New DVD Releases: I Love You Man, 17 Again, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collection

Early-year comedies are out in full force this week as I Love You Man and 17 Again hit the shelves alongside a nominee for Best Foreign Language Film in The Class.

Plus, there’s some TV on DVD entries, a collection of every Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and the three worst DVD’s of the week. What more could we expect!?

I Love You Man

Starring: Jason Segel and Paul Rudd

It’s rare for this to happen in a film – but this one was too short. In fact, it was way too short.

Why? Because the characters were so pleasant, the movie so funny, and everything about the story simply so likable that when it came to an end it was a bit of a disappointment.

It was almost like a party that you didn’t want to end. It was just such a letdown, because you wanted to spend more time with these characters, and instantly began to count down the seconds until the fictive sequel I Still Love You Man.

It’s exactly that dismay that makes DVD’s such a wonderful thing. This DVD includes Extended Scenes, Deleted Scenes and other Extra Scenes. Now we can finally whet our full I Love You Man appetite.

17 Again

Starring: Zac Efron

How many different ways can this movie really be made? It seems like every four years either the mind of a 50-year-old is in a fifteen-year-old’s body or a teenager suddenly looks like an adult.

So what’s the next movie? Can we predict that already?

Is it time for a Haley Joel Osment comeback where he plays a Harvard professor who’s an expert on anthropological behavior in children who must become a child to complete his greatest work?

Or the girl from “Gary Unmarried” who’s fascinated by the world of high finance suddenly breaks up board meetings with her childish antics inside the body of Diane Lane?

Whatever it is, we all know it’s coming. For now, this DVD will have to tide us over until the next cross-generational body switch.

TV ON DVD

“90210” – Complete Series

The remade TV Show.

Of course, this means we’ll have to see more of this soon. The “Melrose Place” remake is already on the list for next season and soon we’ll probably see stuff like “Cheers” with a bunch of twenty-somethings and “The Fugitive” starring the guy from “Wings”. (Wait, that already happened?)

No matter what it is, it’s almost certain that one successful remake will bring about more. Especially when the evidence is neatly packaged on a 6-Disc DVD.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Film Collection

It’s strange to think this hasn’t already been released. Seriously, all three turtles movies in one place? This seems like something that should have come out with the introduction of the DVD box set.

And we don’t just get the horrible third movie and an excuse to indulge in our secret Vanilla Ice fandom with this set. It also includes the new animated movie to make it the ultimate Turtle fan box set.

Included are a bevy of special features including things like collector’s cards and a comic. How can you go wrong with this four DVD set?

Horrible Straight-To-DVD Release of the Week

Art of War III

The Case to Vote for It: This is a sequel to the bomb Wesley Snipes film of about a decade ago. Actually it’s not. It’s a sequel to the sequel to that movie. A sequel that nobody knows even existed, yet here we are with another sequel. How does this happen?

I Do, I Did

The Case to Vote for It: Somehow in this movie a man is married to two women. But it isn’t a sort of polygamous relationship: The two women don’t know about each other, but he’s married to them both all the same. When they find out, a battle ensues to see which woman will hang on to her man. Raising the question – How sexist is this movie when they portray women who find out that there husband is married to somebody else yet still want to stay married to him? How low of an opinion of women does the writer of this movie possess?

Road Trip: Beer Pong

The Case to Vote for It: So it’s come to this. It wasn’t bad enough that American Pie became a franchise, now Tom Green’s breakout film is rolling out the unrated Straight-to-DVD releases. We start, of course, with the sport of Beer Pong, something played by lame-o frat boys and even lamer 28-year-olds who simply can’t let go. Sounds like a real winner.

I Love You, Man Movie Review

Entering this week’s box office race as a graduate from the Judd Apatow school of comedy comes I Love You, Man. Paul Rudd stars as Peter Klaven, a straight-laced real estate broker who is in desperate need of some male companionship. Upon preparation for his upcoming wedding he realizes he’ll be missing one important element, a best man. Peter has spent the majority of his life dedicating his time to women, and has never had any real interaction with his male peers. Due to his unusual and embarrassing situation he enlists the help of his family to help him find a friend.

Peter goes on several “man-dates” where he encounters more than his fair share of questionable characters. Lucky for him he meets Sydney Fife (Jason Segel) at one of his open houses and the two hit it off (in a platonic way). As their friendship grows we see Peter deal with the awkward stages of their relationship as it mirrors a dating courtship. Typical male bonding sessions which include drinking, music, and vulgar sex talk are completely foreign to him. He learns for the first time, what most guys pick up on in middle school. He eventually finds a true friend in Sydney and begins to somewhat isolate his future wife Zooey, played by the delightful Rashida Jones. Peter is forced to learn how to balance his personal and professional life with his new found “bromance”.

The biggest attribute this film has to offer is its cast. Paul Rudd embodies his character’s naivete without delivering a sappy or heavy handed performance. Jason Segel’s Sydney is reminiscent of his over-sexed, slacker character from Knocked Up but not as perverted. A great performance was given by Rashida Jones. It’s very cliche’ to say, but she really did radiate everytime she was on screen. Jon Favreau, Jamie Pressly, J.K. Simmons, and SNL alums Jane Curtin and Andy Samberg each held their own with their performances.

I really loved how this film featured a lot of up and coming comedic actors such as Rob Huebel, Aziz Ansari, and David Kroll. They were featured in bit parts, but dominated the scenes they were in. Everyone brought there A game, and made the movie’s premise believable and watchable. Even Lou Ferrigno delivered some good laughs.

It’s been a while since I’ve walked out of a theater feeling satisfied with what I saw. I would definitely recommend seeing this film this weekend. It’s worth the money and most importantly, you’ll have a good time.

I Love You, Man is directed by John Hamburg who also co-wrote the film’s script. This movie is Rated R and hits theaters on March 20.

Four New I Love You Man Clips

I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Rashida Jones, Andy Samberg, J.K. Simmons, Jane Curtin, Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly comes to theaters this Friday. Although I’ve heard mixed reviews, I really don’t see how your could go wrong with such an amazing cast.

Looks like Paul Rudd and Jason Segel weren’t the only ones who got to have fun on set. Anytime I see Jon Favreau in front of a camera I find it funny, especially when he gets to say “We get to have sex with the lights on… all night long.” It’s nearly impossible for it to not sound cheesy, but there is something about Favreau that makes the cheesy seem natural.

Have I fully expressed my love of Paul Rudd to you yet? He’s pure genius. The man could make cardboard interesting. Although I Love You, Man looks a bit, well chick-flicky for me, I’m so there. I mean think about it, every comedy Rudd has been in, even if it sucked, he has absolutely rocked. Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Knocked Up, Night at the Museum hell even “Little Britain USA.”
