As a fan of the horror genre, I stopped in my tracks when I came across a story on Yahoo about a film not only being restricted, but banned all together! Over in Britain, the Japanese horror film Grotesque has been outlawed. The ratings board refuses to classify the film, meaning it cannot be legally sold or supplied anywhere in Britain.
According to them, “Grotesque features minimal narrative or character development and presents the audience with little more than an unrelenting and escalating scenario of humiliation, brutality and sadism. It devotes most of its running time to the sexual assault and torture of its two main characters” Do you think horror films can go too far? Take our poll below and tell us where you stand.

True Blood fans rejoice! Deborah Ann Woll who plays Jessica Hamby on the HBO series, has landed a role in a feature film. According to Empire, the actress will star in the remake of the 1980 horror flick, Mother’s Day. From what I hear the original movie left a sour taste in the mouths of critics, while impressing horror enthusiasts everywhere.

Whenever someone decides to remake one of my favorite childhood stories, I assume it will be geared towards a younger audience. That’s not the case with the upcoming take on the popular tale of Little Red Riding Hood. According to /Film, the writer of last month’s horror flick Orphan has been tapped to adapt the story, but with a Gothic twist.

Here’s an example of living the American Dream…in the U.K. Over at BBC, they’ve posted an interesting article surrounding the Cinderella story of a budding filmmaker by the name of Marc Price. Price wrote, directed and produced a zombie based horror film entitled, Colin. You may think that there’s nothing special about that feat, since there are plenty of zombie flicks to choose from. Price’s story became a bit more complicated when he turned a project produced on a shoestring budget into a major film release.

Peter Sarsgaard is mostly known for his dramatic roles in such films as Boys Don’t Cry, Jarhead, and Dead Man Walking. He is a true thespian who is just as talented in the theater as he is on film. So, what would make such a versatile performer take a role as a supporting character in a horror flick?
The actor stars in Orphan, a terrifying film about a child adopted from a girls home, who wreaks havoc on her new relatives. Sarsgaard plays the father and husband who is trying to keep everyone and everything together while adjusting to his new daughter. Little does he know that the latest addition to his family isn’t as innocent as she looks.

One of the tell tale signs that a movie franchise needs to end is when the original director or producer decides they want no part of it. I’ve never been a huge fan of Eli Roth‘s Hostel horror series, but surprisingly as the director even he’s decided to jump ship. According to ShockTillYouDrop, Roth will not be involved with the upcoming third installment of the series. The director wants to focus more on the development of his original features rather than rehashing those from the past.
Read why Roth’s done with Hostel after the jump.

For some odd reason the upcoming horror film The Collector is slowly, but surely making itself a known presence in my life. Just last week a creepy poster made it’s debut on the internet, and now a red band trailer is available. The indie film stars Josh Stewart, Daniella Alonso, and a whole lot of blood, sweat, and tears. The Collector is directed by Marcus Dunstan who is a writer turned director best known for penning the last few films in the Saw series. Therefore, don’t be surprised if you see any footage or conventions in the trailer that look a bit “Saw-esque.”
Check out the video after the jump.

Brothers Michael and Peter Spierig are co-directing the upcoming vampire thriller Daybreakers. Now, before you put this film on the “another lame vampire flick,” list know that Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe will star as vampires, so you might want to stick around. The film has been in the works since the beginning of this year, but today Ain’t It Cool News finally debuted its first poster.
Take a look at the entire poster after the jump . . .

When all else fails, make a campy thriller with Michael Myers at the helm. Rob Zombie‘s Halloween II (no longer H2) is set for release later on this summer (August 28) and Dimension Films have just unleashed the second full length trailer. Nothings really changed; we see people getting the ax by the giant Myers man, and little children in Halloween costumes. But don’t take my word for it, see for yourself.
Take a look at the new Halloween II trailer…
