A month ago we learned that one of the breakout stars from The Social Network had joined the cast of Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic J. Edgar (formerly Hoover). The actor is Armie Hammer and he’s set to play the right hand man to Leonardo DiCaprio. Hammer recently opened up and gave some details regarding his role, and revealed that for some of the movie he’ll be highly unrecognizable.
The one, the only, the dame has joined Clint Eastwood’s latest film, Hoover. According to SandwichJohn,(via The Playlist) the director revealed that Judi Dench is the latest star to join the cast of his film that currently features Leonardo DiCaprio in the title role. There’s also been word that Armie Hammer will play his right hand man, and Oscar winner Charlize Theron has been offered a part, which she’s considering taking.
Thus far it’s been confirmed that Leonardo DiCaprio will play the lead in Clint Eastwood’s J. Edgar Hoover biopic Hoover. The last time we checked Joaquin Phoenix was rumored to co-star alongside the actor but that news was shot down by Eastwood himself who denied the claim. Now according to Entertainment Weekly, The Social Network’s Armie Hammer is in talks to join the film.
On November 14, Leonardo DiCaprio and frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese took part in a Q&A presentation entitled, “Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese in Conversation.” The event was held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California and was an hour long info-fest for members of the press and the American Cinematheque. While discussing their working relationship, DiCaprio revealed whether or not he would be interested in doing a musical, more specifically Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra film. A couple weeks ago we reported that I’m Still Here star Joaquin Phoenix was slated to join Leonardo DiCaprio in the Clint Eastwood biopic, Hoover. The actor was rumored to play his right hand man and lover in the film. Could you imagine Leo and Joaquin going at it? It’s an interesting concept (and visual) but it’s not happening. Eastwood has confirmed that the actor has not been cast in the movie.
Now that the truth is out regarding Joaquin Phoenix’s latest “film” I’m Still Here, we’re ready for him to get back into the real acting game. The two-time Oscar nominee claimed to have retired from his craft back in 2008 while embarking on a hip hop career that turned out to be a hoax. According to Vulture, director Clint Eastwood wants to bring Phoenix back into the acting fold with a role in his upcoming biopic Hoover.

Leonardo DiCaprio has his eye on Clint Eastwood’s developing J. Edgar Hoover film entitled, Hoover. It was announced early this month that the Oscar winning director would take on the story of the real life FBI head. DiCaprio has already worked with the likes of Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and of course Martin Scorsese so maybe it’s time for him to spend some time with good old Clint.
Early last week we told you about Milk screenwriter Dustin Lance Black’s upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic and according to THR, Oscar winning director Clint Eastwood is eyeing the project, which would have him teaming up with Imagine Entertainment’s Ron Howard and Brian Grazer.
