The He-Man and the Masters of the Universe film adaptation has been actively looking for a studio home since it was dropped by Warner Bros a while back. According to Variety, Sony has saved the day and is in negotiations to produce the feature. Once the deal is finalized the studio will begin developing the film along with the Escape Artists production company.

Here are a few more photos from the Comic-Con exhibition floor. We got a shot of an official poster for the animated film Planet 51, as well as a statue of He-Man, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. The Wolverine statue is made out of wax, and I’m surprised he hasn’t melted in all this San Diego heat. The air conditioning system is barely cutting it.

There are some film adaptations that I hope die and never see the end of the development process, and undoubtedly He-Man is one of them. We reported earlier on how there was a live action adaptation in the works for the vintage comic and cartoon character, but at the time a writer hadn’t been found. So what did the studio do? They wrangled somebody in to try and add a life to this thing. According to THR, Warner Brothers and Silver Pictures have hired a writer, newcomer Evan Daugherty.

I’ve been noticing a serious shortage in underwear clad superheroes and finally someone’s stepping up and representing for the Barbaric set. For a little over a year I’ve been hearing rumors of a He-Man movie hitting the big screen. It was always screenwriter this, producer that, but nothing solid. Oh, how things have changed. According to SuperHeroHype, He-Man is official, and they’ve got a director to prove it! Super producer Joel Silver along with Warner Brother’s Studio have chosen John Stephenson (Kung Fu Panda) to direct the film.
