AMC recently dropped the axe on one of their smaller releases amongst media scrutiny. Hatchet II hit theaters as an unrated release on October 1st because the MPAA refused to give it an R prior to its debut. That type of reaction from the ratings board usually screams commercial suicide for a film. Theaters don’t want to play movies that don’t have their blessing, but AMC bucked up and decided to give it a shot. Too bad that after a few days they changed their minds.

It’s the sequel to the 2006 acclaimed slasher film that’s been praised by the horror community and said to have reinvented the genre. Victor Crowley is back! Hopefully you know who Victor Crowley is! He’s not quite as well known as Freddy or Jason, but he’s working on his body part and sequel count. Dark Sky Films, a distribution company that prides themselves on having some of the goriest horror flicks from vampires to swamp things (although they did not release the first film Hatchet which came out in 2007), has just released a teaser trailer on Yahoo! Movies for their upcoming sequel Hatchet 2.
