One of the biggest films to hit theaters this year is Part I of the Harry Potter finale entitled, The Deathly Hallows. During the Warner Bros presentation at the 2010 ShoWest convention, they gave an exclusive first look at some never before seen footage from the film. This stuff is so new that parts of it was actually screened without any special effects.
A lot of interesting news has come out of the Warner Bros panel during ShoWest and one of the biggest breaks has to do with the culmination of the Harry Potter franchise. According to Collider, the studio has an exit strategy as to how they’ll lift their dependency from the JK Rowling series as their main source of blockbuster material. They’ve decided to turn to the properties under the DC Comics banner to carry them through the new decade.
Whenever you become a major success in the world legal troubles are never too far behind. In this case, J.K. Rowling the author and creator of all things Harry Potter has been accused of plagiarism, and she’s being taken to court. According to the Associated Press, she’s been called out on stealing ideas for Potter from another British writer.

Last week it was revealed that Warner Bros was bitten by the 3D bug, and were looking to convert several of their pending releases into the format. At the time they refused to give an official confirmation, but the cat is finally out of the bag. Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution at the studio released a statement confirming their upcoming 3D slate, and guess who made the list?
The 3-D craze won’t die, and it’s once again taking Harry Potter under its wing. According to THR, the final two films in the Potter franchise, The Deathly Hallows will be converted to 3-D, and they’re bringing Clash of the Titans with them. Just last week there was some buzz stating that the upcoming Sam Worthington film would be given a last minute upgrade in the visual department, and it sounds like it’s true.

The upcoming Universal theme park entitled, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has fans from all over anxious for the finished product. On the Blu-ray disc of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince viewers are given a sneak peek at the Orlando theme park before it makes its debut next spring. Over at Attractions Magazine they’ve managed to get a rundown of the latest additions to Potter’s Wizarding World, and some of them sound too good to be true.
There is a lot of good stuff coming out on DVD this week as an array of summer flicks hit the shelves.
A new Harry Potter arrives on DVD for only the third-to-last time ever, Michael Mann’s latest film starring Johnny Depp, Public Enemies comes out with a two-disc set and an early Oscar contender, Meryl Streep in Julie & Julia, adds to the excitement.
Plus, there’s a chance to catch up on “LOST” with the fifth season now available and a pair of indie darlings also hitting DVD.
