He’s baaaacckk! Samuel Bayer brings us the re-imagining of the infamous Freddy Krueger played by Jackie Earle Haley in A Nightmare at Elm Street. For those of you who don’t know, the fantasy horror film is about the icon serial killer who kills people in their dreams, resulting in their real death in reality. Another more off the wall horror film coming out this week is Tom Six’s drama, The Human Centipede. The film is about a retired surgeon (Dieter Laser) who has a sick fantasy of making a “human centipede”.
If you prefer violence over horror, check out Daniel Barber’s crime thriller, Harry Brown starring Michael Caine, Emily Mortimer, and Liam Cunningham. Probably one of the darkest films of the bunch.

For movies that were strong enough to bear the criticism, we’ve created a Review Round-up of the top ten buzzed about films of the year. We’ve got everything from Michael Caine‘s geriatric vigilante in Harry Brown to George Clooney’s goat killing Jedi in The Men Who Stare at Goats.
Let’s take a look at the best and the worst that TIFF 2009 had to offer…

Remember the amazing performance that Michael Caine gave in the original version of Get Carter? That film along with Alfie are what made the actor one of the coolest men in entertainment. Sure, he’s Alfred Pennyworth now, but he has a badass past and he’s exposing it to the world. A trailer for his latest film Harry Brown has been released online and it looks like an awesome mix of Get Carter, Taken, and Death Wish.
Don’t let the gray hair fool you, he will shoot to kill…
