Five Green Hornet International Posters

Next month’s The Green Hornet has gone international. Five posters have been released overseas for Michel Gondry’s latest feature film, and one of them includes Cameron Diaz. Is it bad that we’ve almost completely forgotten about her involvement with this movie? Sorry Cameron. Check out the five full sized one sheets below…

The Green Hornet is based on the long running radio turned television series that ran during the 1930s and 1960s. The film stars Seth Rogen as Britt Reid, the heir to a major media conglomerate who spends his free time fighting crime as a vigilante hero after the death of his father (Tom Wilkinson). He’s typically aided by his driver Kato (Jay Chou), who just happens to be a martial arts master.

As you might have figured from the posters, Christoph Waltz plays the main villain in the film, while Diaz’s character works with Rogen’s Britt Reid. Personally, the character poster featuring Waltz is our favorite and the French group version comes in as a close second.

The Green Hornet opens in theaters everywhere on January 14, 2011.

We’re not really sure how much of this movie we buy, but it looks like their trying their best to make it good and respectable. They also acknowledge that The Green Hornet is different than the other superhero movies out because the sidekick does most of the work.

Sony has released a new poster for their upcoming big screen adaptation The Green Hornet. The film and the poster features Seth Rogen, who plays the title character and Jay Chou who plays his sidekick and chauffeur Kato. Unlike the teaser poster that was released a while ago this one sheet has the characters front and center and they look like they’re up to something. Check it out…

Can someone please tell us what the hell it is that Seth Rogen is looking at in this poster? Chou’s character looks like he’s got something in his sights and Rogen’s just checking out the scene. We guess this is their attempt at looking baddass?

New Action Packed Trailer for The Green Hornet

A new trailer has been released for Michel Gondry’s latest film, The Green Hornet. Doesn’t it seem like everything “green” is debuting this week? First we had the Green Lantern trailer from Warner Bros and now Sony has released a new one for Hornet. What can they do to set this film apart from the other green guy? They can add Kato-vision!!! He’s typically aided by his driver Kato (Jay Chou), who just happens to be a martial arts master.

As much as we all want to hate this film, the early reviews for it haven’t been bad. Maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised by what Rogen and Chou have to offer? I’m not personally invested in it because Bruce Lee will always be Kato in my eyes, but I don’t hold a grudge against Chou.

The Green Hornet will open in theaters on January 14.

New Green Hornet Poster Features Black Beauty

When was the last time we heard anything about Michel Gondry’s big screen adaptation of The Green Hornet? Yeah, it’s been a while but don’t fret the folks over at Latino Review have stumbled upon a new piece of marketing for the film. A new poster has been released that features Kato, Britt Reid, and their weapon and car of choice, The Black Beauty. Take a look…

Some people have bashed this poster and called it weak but we’ve seen worse. They can get an A for effort on this one. The car looks great and the hornet coming out of the smoke is a nice attempt at giving that vintage stamp of approval.

The Green Hornet hits theaters on January 14, 2011.

Comic-Con 2010: The Green Hornet Press Conference

There’s been a lot of speculation about whether or not Seth Rogen can pull off the coveted role of The Green Hornet in the big screen adaptation. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the actor along with fellow screenwriter Evan Goldberg, director Michel Gondry, producer Neal Moritz, and co-star Christoph Waltz were in attendance at the official Green Hornet press conference to give us an idea of how they plan on revamping the old property.

Comic-Con 2010: Watching Green Hornet in Kato Vision

What is “Kato Vision”? It should be self explanatory but if it’s not here’s the rundown. At the official Green Hornet Comic-Con panel, which we live blogged by the way, Seth Rogen introduced an exclusive clip from the film that featured Kato (Jay Chou) kicking some serious ass. The scene was is 3D, which means we got the full punch to the face effect that we’re sure they wanted. Here’s how it works….

The Scene Setup:

Britt and Kato are having a conversation about his late father. They’re both drunk and commiserating over his bad treatment of both of them. Britt tells Kato a story about an action figure he had as a kid. He said his father took it and ripped its head off right in front of him and it made him angry. There’s a statue of his dad in the middle of town, so they decide get even and decapitate it.

While in the middle of their head-heist, Britt sees a young woman getting harassed by a group of scraggly looking men. He jumps in to help telling them to leave her alone, but somehow ends up on his back with a knife to his throat. Kato sees that his friend is in trouble and jumps to his aid. Enter Kato Vision!

The Vision:

Kato steps out of his car and stares down the group of men. We get a point of view shot of him zoning in on their weapons, where each of them illuminate with the color red. The camera then does a close up of his eye and he starts throwing fists, elbows, and decapitated heads. Yes, he used the head from the statue as a weapon.

The most interesting thing about the sequence was the doubling up of certain images. You saw a bit of it in the trailer when he kicks a guy across a car and it looks like he’s flying across 5 instead of one. That’s Kato vision for ya.

Overall it looked decent. It wasn’t as horrifying as I thought it would be. Just like the folks from the Priest panel they also spoke about taking their time with the 3D conversion process because they want the movie to look good and not like visual cancer (my words, not theirs). I have to admit, Kato Vision meshes well with the extra dimension.

This will be the last year Seth Rogen comes to Comic-Con as the Green Hornet. We’re sure you have your own opinions about the latest superhero and who’s playing him, but while many of the panels we’re covering at the event don’t really belong at a comic book convention, The Green Hornet sure does, so let’s give ‘em some credit for that. We’ve got Rogen and Christoph Waltz, director Michel Gondry, writer Evan Goldberg and producer Neal Moritz in the house. Here we go…

5:32 PM: Seth Rogen has just taken the stage and he still looks skinny. He just made a crack about Ryan Reynolds. He’s tired of people getting them confused.

5:36 PM: They just showed a long trailer with some new footage. It had a darker tone. There was still comedy but Christoph Waltz’s character is really bad ass. He’s scares me.

Updates below….

5: 40 PM: Neal Moritz talking about why they decided to do the movie in 3D. Michel always wanted to do it in 3D in the beginning, but Moritz didn’t want to convert it in 6-8 weeks, which is why they pushed the date back for the release date.

5:41 PM: About to get our first look at the Kato vision. It features a drunk Kato and Britt who go and try to cut the head off of a statue of Britt’s dead father.

5:42 PM: Seth just said that some of Jay Chou’s music might pop up in the film. Yeah, that guy can do anything.

5:46 PM: There’s some creepy guy ogling over Christoph Waltz but he asked a decent question. He wanted to know why he decided to do another villain role. He said he wanted to do a comedy, and he wanted to work with the rest of the cast and the crew.

5:55 PM: Seth is asked about his weight. He was thin in the movie but even thinner now. He’s said, “Right now, I’m dying.” He doesn’t know how long his weight will stay off.

5: 56 PM: A guy dressed like Kato just came up to the mic and said his name was Brian and Seth said, “No it’s not.” (Kato) ha!

5:57 PM: There’s this green haired chick at the mic asking a question and she seems really stoned. Seth just called her out and said, “Save me some. You sound stoned.” And yeah, she admitted that she was. She tried to make a little “sale” too.

6:04 PM: A kid just walked up and he’s pretty much having an orgasm at the mic because of how good looking The Hornettes (Green Hornet girls) are. Gross. Seth just said, “boner alert, boner alert.”

6: 05 PM: Christoph just admitted that he wasn’t a comic type before this movie. The room went slightly silent because their so shocked. Get over it people.

6: 06 PM: Michel keeps getting asked the same question from fans, “How did it feel going from your experimental films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to Green Hornet.” They all ask that same question and use the same film as their example.

6: 08 PM: Somebody just asked ANOTHER question about it being converted into 3D. They have literally spoken about this 3 times during this panel. People just don’t listen.

6: 10 PM: Some nasally sounding kid just asked Christoph how his kids feel about him playing bad guys. He wanted to know if they really think he’s a bad guy. He answered, “Thank you for your concern.” But he doesn’t tell his kids that him killing is make believe. Oh, Christoph always the joker.

6: 14 PM: Wow, they’re wrapping up. That was quick! Short and sweet.

International Green Hornet Trailer – Still Not Buying It

Before the big 4th July holiday the first trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet made its debut. While it may not have been the worst thing we’d ever seen, it definitely wasn’t the best. The film is just one of many remakes — 3D remakes hitting theaters next year that will overcrowd the cinemas. Over at Trailer Addict, they posted the slightly shorter international version of the trailer that shows a little more footage and some new shots of Cameron Diaz’s character. Is it just us or are all of the main actors in this film playing the same character’s they’ve been playing for the majority of their careers? Christoph Waltz just got an Oscar for playing a bad guy, and we all know Rogen and Diaz have been playing the same types of roles for a while now. It’s unfortunate that they only thing interesting about this film is Jay Chou. Oh, well.

Explosive Green Hornet Trailer Plus Two New Photos

As promised, the first trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet has finally arrived! It was originally scheduled to premiere on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” but I guess Yahoo Movies said screw that and decided to debut it instead. Either way, its time to see if months of reshoots and recasts were a good or a bad sign of things to come. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think…

He’s typically aided by his driver Kato (Jay Chou), who just happens to be a martial arts master. The film also stars Cameron Diaz as the female lead and Christoph Waltz as the villain.

I’m not completely blown away by this trailer but it’s not as bad as I thought. It looks like every other glossy superhero movie that’s come out in the past few years. There’s nothing really groundbreaking here.

Sneak Peek Video: Green Hornet Trailer

Entertainment Tonight has released a sneak peek at the teaser trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet. It’s scheduled to debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” this evening with an introduction by star Seth Rogen. The clip from ET is about a minute long and shows some pretty slick action on Jay Chou’s part and we get our first glimpse of Christoph Waltz as the villain. Take a look…

The majority of the dialogue in the footage is muted with the exception of Mark Steines’ voice over. We see Britt Reid (Rogen) being shown the world of vigilante crime fighting via Kato his driver and sidekick. Cameron Diaz also makes an appearance as a news reporter, and Waltz is doing his best contemporary bad guy impersonation complete with a leather jacket and a Caesar hair cut.

Earlier today we brought you the first official photos released from the film and now this preview clip. Columbia is pulling out all the stops to make sure that this movie has high visibility prior to its release.

Green Hornet is scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2011 and will be available in both 2D and 3D. The film will also open simultaneously in IMAX and conventional theaters.

It was previously announced that Columbia Pictures would release the first teaser trailer for Michel Gondry’s The Green Hornet during an episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on June 21st. In preparation for the big event, the studio has debuted two official photos of the title character and his trusty valet sidekick. Check out a slender Seth Rogen and a masked Jay Chou below…

I don’t know about you but I need the trailer for this movie to debut now! There are so many things that could go wrong with this production. Fans of the series need to be reassured that this won’t be a crappy adaptation that defecates on the original. They want something they can be proud of, not a travesty that will have Bruce Lee doing backflips in his grave. Here’s hoping for the best!
