There’s been a lot of speculation regarding the long gestating Ghostbusters 3 sequel. All the key actors from the previous films seem to be on board including Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, and Dan Aykroyd but Bill Murray hasn’t been nailed down. There have been rumors that Murray has seen the script and wasn’t happy about it. Over at Coming Soon, they were able to talk to director Ivan Reitman who decided to clear the air about all the false reports that have surfaced online.

Anytime we get news regarding Ghostbusters 3, we take it with a grain of salt but this latest dish sounds plausible and comes from a decent source. According to Bloody Disgusting, one of the major plot-points in the sequel will surround Peter Venkman and Dana Barrett’s love child — Oscar.

Turning a corner on the floor during Comic-Con‘s preview night, we all drew a collective gasp followed by a slow exhale of “Coooooool!!!” Behold, the Ecto-1 in all it’s glory. After years of waiting for a third Ghostbusters film, we finally got the old crew back together including Bill Murray and original director Ivan Reitman. This sounds like a dream come true for any die-hard fan, but unfortunately the bliss might be cut short according to a report from MTV. Sony might want to pull a Spider-Man and get a younger, more hip director to usher the Ghostbusters into the new millennium leaving Reitman in the dust.

Finally some form of confirmation has come out of the Ghostbusters camp and it’s from Ivan Reitman himself. Over at MTV the director confirmed that he WILL direct the long awaited sequel Ghostbusters 3, that follows the previous 1984 and 1989 installments.
