“All My Children,” which began its run in 1970, and “One Life to Live” which started in 1968, have been cancelled by ABC. They will be replaced by “lifestyle” shows according to EW. Both of these soap operas are currently watched by 2.5 Million people and will end their runs in 2012, while “General Hospital” (on the air since 1963) will keep going. But if ABC is cancelling these shows, it means something.

I don’t know how many of you out there watch soap operas, but it’s a genre of television that was embedded in my brain at an early age. “General Hospital” has been a guilty pleasure of mine since 1990, but as of late it’s been pretty difficult to watch.
Golden Globe winner James Franco began a stint on the show last fall, and is currently in the middle of a very heated storyline, and by heated I mean over the top. He’s such a talented actor, but he really takes it down a peg on the show. If you don’t believe me take a look at one of his recent scenes that left much to be desired.

This is not a joke, Golden Globe winner James Franco has signed on to star in the ABC soap opera General Hospital. As a closet soap watcher, I know where to look to get the honest truth about casting matters, and it appears that this story is 100 percent accurate. According to Soapcentral, the actor will have a lengthy stint on the show during their November sweeps period.
