Gemma Arterton has moved on from one epic to another, by landing a lead role in Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. The film will be a new adaptation of the famous folktale according to Variety. The actress will play Gretel alongside Oscar nominee Jeremy Renner who’s been cast in the role of her older brother Hansel.
Alec Baldwin is ready to take a leave of absence from “30 Rock” to tackle some aliens in Men in Black 3. According to Pajiba, Baldwin, Sharlto Copley, Gemma Arterton and Pussycat Doll singer Nicole Sherzinger have all been cast in the upcoming sequel. Over the weekend a report surfaced regarding Ridley Scott’s upcoming Alien prequel. According to Digital Spy, the director has his eye on Gemma Arterton to star as the female lead in the latest installment of the sci-fi series. Does this mean that her character will be a complete rip off of Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley? We’re not sure but we do know that Scott was impressed by Arterton’s performance in The Disappearance of Alice Creed.
Who the hell is Tamara Drewe? The name has generated a lot of buzz over the past few months because it’s the title of a feature film starring former Bond Girl Gemma Arterton. It’s directed by Stephen Frears and is based on the graphic novel of the same name. The actress starred as Io, the love interest/watcher of Sam Worthington’s Perseus and according to a recent interview with MTV she plans on her character being bigger, badder, and stronger when she returns for the sequel.
Jake Gyllenhaal is a great actor but his talent is completely wasted on Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. If I could describe the film in one word it would be “boring.” This is supposed to be a blockbuster summer action flick and even though it’s being released at the right time, has the right producer (Jerry Bruckheimer), and the right studio backing it (Disney), it gets it all wrong!
Gemma Arterton is this summer’s hot blockbuster chick (although maybe it’s “bird” since she is English?). Ever since she seduced Bond a few years back, she’s been the girl to cast in your blockbuster not only for her looks but for her ability to capture your attention and deliver a line. From Clash of the Titans and now to Prince of Persia where she plays the most beautiful (and if you hadn’t noticed don’t worry, they make sure to point it out to you as often as possible) and argumentative princess in all the land, she’s traveled to many different eras and always come out on top.
