Gavin Hood, is the award winning director who brought us the steaming pile of film entitled X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Even though his last encounter with the comic book franchise was lackluster, that hasn’t stopped him from showing interest in another Marvel property, Magneto. According to MTV, Hood is smitten by the metal messiah and wouldn’t mind jumping on board to direct the feature if asked by the studio.

Wolverine Review

wolverine09 4 8 2 Wolverine Review

In many ways this review is the exact opposite of my Star Trek review. I really wanted to like X-Men Origins: Wolverine. When I walked out the theater, I liked the film, but as time went on, I kept finding more problems with it.

I like the X-Men series, the earlier films were (for the most part) were entertaining, and the character of Wolverine has a lot potential. I understood why that they want to show the origin of Wolverine and a more humane side of the character. BUT, in trying to show us his human side, they manage to completely destroy what we all loved about Wolverine and turned him into a weakling.

Interview With the Cast of X-Men Origins: Wolverine

wolvie Interview With the Cast of X Men Origins: Wolverine

Here it is! The X-Men Origins: Wolverine press conference, with Gavin Hood, Hugh Jackman, Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Will.i.iam, Lynn Collins, and Taylor Kitsch. Overall, everyone was in good spirits, happy to be promoting a film that deserves to be put out the way it was intended.

The highlights for me were Ryan Renolds and Liev Schreiber. Everything Reynolds says is hysterical, from joking about wearing a silver dress that Collins was tricked by Jackman into wearing, to teasing Hugh Jackman about the music he listens to. Schreiber on the other hand, I could listen to all day, equally funny, but in a much different way. The man has a quick wit and is not afraid to jest about himself (and his fears about getting “big” enough for the roll) or his good friend Hugh Jackman.

Check out what they all had to say below…

tsotsiwinner Gavin Hood Talks Endings and Leak at Wolverine Screening

Director Gavin Hood made an appearance at one of the early press screenings for his upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As you can expect the director appeared in front of the audience with a heavy heart when discussing the highly publicized leak that occurred early this month. Hood was visibly upset, and emotional when discussing the incident. He acknowledged that neither he nor the studio knows how this will effect the box office reception of the film. He used this as an opportunity to explain to the fans how “unfinished” the bootleg is and how the theatrical version is worth the wait.

See what Hood says was missing from the leaked copy after the jump.

Final Trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine

wolverine Final Trailer for X Men Origins: Wolverine

The final trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine has just been released! For the most part the trailer shows footage that we’ve already seen, mixed with a couple unfamiliar action sequences. There are a few shots of a young Cyclops that weren’t in the first, and more fight footage with Gambit, Deadpool, and of course Wolverine. After watching the trailer I’ve learned one important thing. Wolverine can use his claws for ANYTHING. He can open prison cells, start fires, shred trucks, and stab airplanes. It’s a bit much but this is an action movie, don’t we want some of the violence to verge on ridiculous?

Check out the trailer after the jump.

wolverine08 11 21 Jackman Tells ScreenCrave Wolverine is Character Driven Movie

Today at a press conference for Australia, Hugh Jackman (aka People Magazine‘s “Sexiest Man of the Year”), talked about working with Director Gavin Hood on Wolverine. Although the film is based on the X-Men Sci-fi fantasy, Hugh says that the film will be focusing on the development of the character.

When asked about shooting the film, (now in post production), Jackman said:

It was fantastic, Gavin Hood is a great director, he has a strong understanding of the arcs and journeys of the characters.  These movies (the X-Men series), we’ve all found them interesting because of their attention to the characters and the story. And all the other stuff, all those powers, which are terrific, are not the heart of it. It’s themes and it’s characters and their struggles. Really that’s the heart of it. Really Gavin is terrific. I did miss Halle Berry though [laughs].
