On November 14, Leonardo DiCaprio and frequent collaborator Martin Scorsese took part in a Q&A presentation entitled, “Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese in Conversation.” The event was held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, California and was an hour long info-fest for members of the press and the American Cinematheque. While discussing their working relationship, DiCaprio revealed whether or not he would be interested in doing a musical, more specifically Scorsese’s Frank Sinatra film. And he also spoke about when production will begin on Clint Eastwood’s upcoming J. Edgar Hoover biopic. Here’s what he had to say…

Earlier this spring, May to be exact, news broke that award winning director Martin Scorsese was planning to helm a biopic centering on the life of Frank Sinatra. With this announcement came several casting possibilities, and at the time Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Harry Connick Jr. were all mentioned for the role. Now, several reports are suggesting that George Clooney may also be in the running to play ‘old blue eyes.’
All of these actors are talented in their own right, but that doesn’t automatically make them perfect for this part. Out of Depp, DiCaprio, Connick, and Clooney who do you think should play Frank Sinatra in the Scorsese biopic?

Yesterday it was announced that Martin Scorsese would direct the biopic of the late great performer, Frank Sinatra. The feature is simply entitled Sinatra, and is being produced by Universal Pictures. In a rare Hollywood occurrence Sinatra’s family actually approves of the film being made, and stands by the studio and the director. With their blessing and the legal tape out of the way, there’s only thing left to do, find the perfect man to play old blue eyes.

Who else could bring the life of legendary crooner, and Academy Award winning actor Frank Sinatra to the big screen besides Martin Scorsese? I’m a huge fan of Sinatra (as I stare at the Rat Pack poster above my desk), so imagine my reaction when I discovered his life story would be made into a feature film. According to ComingSoon, Universal has acquired the life rights of Sinatra from his estate, and are developing a biopic along with Mandalay Pictures.
