A lot of people have been anxiously awaiting Craig Brewer’s big screen remake of the 1984 dance flick Footloose. There’s an entirely new cast led by up and comers Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, and Miles Teller. Teller, who also appears in the highly praised drama Rabbit Hole opposite Nicole Kidman this month, recently spoke to us about his role in Footloose. He’ll fill the shoes of the late Chris Penn who played Willard in the original and he told us a little about what we can expect from the movie, dance montages and all!

This weekend we spoke with Julianne Hough about her role in her first film ever, Burlesque. While talking about working with classics such as Christina Aguilera and Cher, the topic of another classic came up, Footloose. For many of us the return to this iconic dance flick is a scary one, it was perfect in 1984, how it will be adapted to work now? Andie MacDowell has just signed on for the upcoming remake of Footloose. Back in June, after a tumultuous casting process the lead actor was announced in the form of newcomer Kenny Wormald. He’ll pick up where Kevin Bacon left off over 25 years ago and he’s bringing “Dancing With the Star’s” Julianne Hough with him. According to Entertainment Weekly, MacDowell has joined the cast in the supportive role of the preacher’s wife.

Kenny Loggins was wrong, everybody doesn’t want to get Footloose because once again the lead actor of the remake has dropped out. When the movie was first announced, there was word that Zac Efron and his wispy bangs would headline the project. After a few months he left, which opened the door for “Gossip Girl’s” Chace Crawford and his piercing blue eyes but now he’s decided that he doesn’t want to dance anymore either.

Earlier this week we told you about This is It director Kenny Ortega‘s decision to pull out of the remake of the 1980′s dance flick, Footloose. The reason behind his departure had many people speculating over the direction that Paramount plans on taking the film. Sources indicate that Ortega wanted to focus on the dance element, while the studio wanted to focus on the edgy story.
