Wow… just, well, wow. Who would have thought that the collision of such comedic heavyweights—the Farrelly Brothers and the Three Stooges (well, people acting like the Three Stooges, anyway)—would be this, well, horrible? The trailer to The Three Stooges showcases all the old slapstick humor of the original troupe, but with none of the charm or zany wit; instead, we get lots of people being hit the groin, and the cast of Jersey Shore. Oh, good.

The world does not need a sequel to a 17 year old Jim Carrey film. Really, it doesn’t. The last time this happened, we got Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls, ok? So, to recap, please don’t do this—we do not need Dumb and Dumber 2.

Last November, Peter and Bobby Farrelly a.k.a. the Farrelly Brothers announced that they would direct a “contemporary re-imagining” of The Three Stooges, to be released Nov. 20 2009.
Now, gossip reports are coming in (via the sometimes-reliable celebrity gossip zine, In Touch), that the Farrelly Bros are gunning for Johnny Depp and Sean Penn to play Moe and Larry, respectively, in the new film. Not that it wouldn’t be hilarious to see Johnny poking Sean in the eye repeatedly, but aren’t these biopics/re-imaginings becoming a little cliché?
