Last fall, director Wes Anderson did what most people considered the impossible. He adapted the short Roald Dahl story of Fantastic Mr. Fox and turned it into a feature length film. Instead of taking the ever popular route of using CGI, he decided to bring the characters to life with stop motion animation. He also got an A-list cast led by Oscar winners George Clooney and Meryl Streep to voice Mr. Fox and his long suffering wife. So the question is does Fantastic Mr. Fox deserves a spot in your DVD collection?

It’s not like she’s been in the news that much this year, but chances are you may remember her from Speed and want to check her out in Best Picture nominee The Blind Side on DVD. Plus there’s another classic AMC series, a not-so-classic AMC series, and a special edition DVD worth mentioning!

Last night the National Board of Review awarded Director Wes Anderson a special achievement award for his latest film, the old school, stop-frame animation Fantastic Mr. Fox starring George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Jason Schwartzman, Michael Gambon, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson. For those of you who have seen the film, there’s no real question as to why he’s won the award, it’s charming to watch and probably one of the most genuinely funny films of the year.

Wes Anderson is a very unique individual and a talented director. Unfortunately, the man behind Fantastic Mr. Fox was trashed a few weeks ago by the film’s cinematographer Tristan Oliver, for his unconventional directing methods. According to the NYDailyNews, Fox co-star Bill Murray had a few things to say in defense of Mr. Anderson.

It’s been almost 40 year’s since the classic children’s book, Fantastic Mr. Fox hit shelves in America and the U.K. to the delight of kids everywhere. Author Roald Dahl told a simple story about a fox and his attempts to outwit and for lack of a better word “outfox” three of the richest men around. The story is brought to life on the silver screen by director Wes Anderson, using stop motion animation that literally makes you feel like you’re a kid again. His feature version is charming and stays true to the source material, while keeping it fresh for younger viewers.

A few weeks ago the London Film Festival began its first press conference of the festival with the Opening Film, Fantastic Mr Fox. On the panel was the writer/director, Wes Anderson and the stars, George Clooney, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Eric Anderson, Jarvis Cocker and Wallace Wolodarsky. What follows was a really funny press conference; Bill Murray was the standout, with some fantastic one-liners and rants. The only problem with the press conference was the fact that most of the questions were to George Clooney and half of them was about his personal life, which seem out of place, but George Clooney was on top form and dodged the gossip news bullets aimed at him (for those quotes check out our Why Press Conference Suck story). Hope you enjoy.

You get someone like George Clooney sitting in front of journalists and despite the integrity of the film and media outlets, certain journalists will use all their skills to try and pull pointless personal BS from the talent. At the London Film Festival‘s press conference for Wes Anderson‘s new animation The Fantastic Mr. Fox certain “journalists” just couldn’t stop asking Clooney about was his personal life. The problem with these “journalists” is that they are like fleas, once they start biting they just won’t stop until they get something they can manipulate into a cheesy headline.
