Who wants to see a movie? Unfortunately, this week’s not looking too good in terms of new releases. The three major films debuting are Legion, Tooth Fairy, and Extraordinary Measures. Tooth Fairy is the latest Disney movie starring Dwayne Johnson as a badass hockey player. Legion stars Paul Bettany as Micheal the Archangel who decides to save an unborn child, who will in turn save humanity, and Extraordinary Measures stars Harrison Ford and Brendan Fraser as a father and a doctor working together to find a cure for a rare genetic disorder. If you’re up for some more eclectic fare, the French film The Girl on the Train with Catherine Deneuve is apparently worthwhile.

extraordinary measures 1 14 10 Extraordinary Measures: Movie Review

I know what you’re thinking. ANOTHER depressing movie about dying children… but stay with me for a few minutes, this one has a little more to offer than just man-made tears. Extraordinary Measures is a smart film that doesn’t go for the easy tears or the over dramatic violins. It presents you with an unfortunate situation and tells you a story about a family who fights tooth and nail to make the impossible a reality.

Hollywood veteran Harrison Ford will return to the big screen this week with the non-Indiana Jones related drama, Extraordinary Measures. The veteran actor takes on the tedious task of playing a medical researcher who’s trying to save the lives of two young children. In a race against time, he teams up with a desperate father (Brendan Fraser) to come up with a cure for a rare genetic disorder. The film is based on the true story of parents John and Aileen Crowley, that was chronicled in the popular Geeta Anand book “The Cure.”

Harrison Ford isn’t known for being a huge fan of the press, but he came out to show support for his latest project in spite of his reservations. Extraordinary Measures is an inspirational film about maintaining hope in the face of adversity. When we spoke to the actor he discussed his decision to take on the project, as well as the extensive research he did to further understand the character. After playing so many larger than life heroes, we learned that Ford puts just as much effort into his smaller roles as he does the epic ones…
